Ok, here's what happened in WalMart tonight.......
It's probably not much different from anyone else's WalMart experience because it seems that WalMart never goes well for me. One time, the woman in front of me on line was wearing the same kind of house dress my mother in law wears but hers had some kind of horrid stain in the rear section. I learned right then and there to at least appreciate my MIL's good hygiene and never look at the person in front of me on line in WalMart.
This is parenting related, really! a.) I was buying some Dylan related supplies at WalMart and b.) part of the reason this all happened is because Dylan was crying. He rarely cries in stores and he wasn't hungry. I am curious as to whether you all think he is teething, needed a nap or whether you think he is being fussy because we are re-introducing dairy in small amounts and maybe he has not outgrown the milk protein allergy.
So, Saint Scott came home early to pick Dylan up at daycare today because I was in a meeting that I did not want to walk out early on. When I walked out of the meeting, Scott and Dylan were waiting for me in the bar assoc. parking lot. So sweet!! So, I said, "let's go to WalMart."
Dylan was sleeping when we got to WalMart, so we put him in the Snap N Go. He woke up as soon as we got inside. He started crying right away. I thought maybe he didn't like facing backward because we hardly use that stroller anymore. Dylan would not stop crying but we thought we could calm him because he was so recently fed and changed. Scott decided to go back to the car to get the Baby Bjorn and the liner thing for the shopping cart, then we'd figure out which one Dylan liked.
So I decided I just had to find the same sports bra I got from WalMart over the summer. They were out of my size and that only added to the frustration of the experience. Scott came back because when he got to the car he realized he did not have the keys to my car, where the Bjorn and the cart liner were. Poor guy. He tried again and got the Bjorn and cart liner. He finally met up with me. He was carrying Dylan forward facing in the Bjorn. We shopped a bit more. Dylan was a bit quieter but not happy. He was kicking his feet and Scott kept saying that it was rather painful in a male sort of way to be kicked where Dylan was kicking him. I started to get very nauseous. No, I am not pregnant. I just had too much cheese at the bar meeting. Still, I just had to look at Halloween candy and I decided I could not wait until next time. Dylan was still fussy and Scott was still getting kicked in the b*lls. We got on line to pay. I suddenly realized that Scott had Dylan strapped in wrong and that Dylan's arms had to be losing circulation. I fixed his arms. He was quiet for 30 seconds then started screaming. We were already on line so I figured we'd pay and be done soon. I still wasn't feeling well, so I escaped to the bathroom while Scott stayed on line with Dylan. I stayed in there for a bit, just in case I got sick, but I was okay. I did walk in on a pregnant lady who was lifting her shirt and admiring her belly in the mirror--right there in the WalMart bathroom. I left the bathroom and wandered around the front area of the store looking for Scott and Dylan. It never dawned on me that they could possibly still be on line. I had left them so long ago and they were next. But I found them in the same spot I left them.
The lady in front of us was trying to get a discount on her cat food because a label was torn. Dylan was now screaming. They called a manager over and I do not know what happened with the cat food but then the lady decided that one of her cans was dented and she told the cashier guy that she had to go get another one. So, when she was gone, Scott told me that she must have purposely picked up all faulty items because while I was in the bathroom, she tried to argue for lower prices on every purchase because of damage to the item. No wonder this was taking so long. So I asked if Dylan was crying while all this was happening, yep, he was AND Scott was still getting kicked in the b*lls. The lady comes back with her cat food and goes on her way. Saint Scott paid for my purchases and as we were walking out he was telling me, "That lady....ouch, Dylan, that hurts.....kept trying to....ugghh......negotiate......he's Killing me... and she was on her cell phone yelling at her kids the whole time." Seriously, ***, this lady sees that there is a guy behind her with a crying baby and that the guy's wife (me) ran off to the bathroom in a hurry and she still has to try to negotiate and delay her whole process of checking out? If she wanted to argue with the store clerk, couldn't she have gotten off the phone?
So, as we were walking out, Scott goes, "maybe you can wheel the cart, I should probably keep one hand over my b*lls because Dylan is still kicking me." Stupid me. Scott was the one carrying the baby but when we started to leave, I just left it to him to push the cart.
We go out to the parking lot and realize there's a ton of broken glass in front of my car. I'm glad we noticed. We came home, let the dog out in the yard and when the dog came back it was very obvious he had rolled in poop. He stunk so bad and it was all caked into his collar. Who do you think gave him a bath, the nauseas one or the one who had their b*lls kicked a few times? The only problem is that neither of us wants to try to wash his collar. And Scott keeps making me smell the dog to make sure the bath was effective. Oddly enough, I am not nauseas anymore.
I know, this story has no point. Are Kerie stories or Saint Scott stories supposed to?

Even without a point to the story I was still laughing, probably in anticipation of there being an actual point!

Re: Ok, here's what happened in WalMart tonight.......
I think these things always happen at walmart!! I was at walmart today too and almost everything on my list was out of stock! Matthew was crying too! I did everything I could think of: got a yogurt from their fridge, got a pack of spoons, showed him the fishies, got him a big pretzel, picked up some wheel pals, ended up holding him while pushing the cart and then leaving without getting anything good! I put him in the car and he was asleep in 5 seconds-so I am guessing he was tired-I really thought maybe it was the FILTH and disarray of walmart!!!LOL
PS(LOVE your story)

this is my favorite part of the story -- your DH is a saint. My husband would never stand for any of this.

Frankly, I'm more surprised that you shop in Walmart than anything else.
