OK, I'm doing it. FAKE NAILS.
I'm starting a new job on Monday....a nice clothes, no more uniform tops, heels and dress pants new job.
I have the hands of a kindergartener. They're short, stubby, and puffy.
I planned on getting fakies for my wedding/HM anyway, so I'm just doing it now.
I think I'm going to try acrylics first - I have an appt at Cactus on Friday.
Do you recommend I go with Perm french first, or just a regular set? I mean, I like darker colors in the fall/winter, but I don't want to deal with chipping.

Re: OK, I'm doing it. FAKE NAILS.
I get the permanent french now but when the white grows out, instead of getting it back filled right away, I wear a color for a while. That way, I save a few $$ and I get to wear my colors. I can polish over the french at any time anyway but I love not having to wait for polish to dry.
As for polish chipping, it chips a lot less on acrylic anyway.
Just some things to consider.

I had the permanent french for my wedding. that didn't stop me though from wearing colors over it. Just because you have the french does not mean when you go for your fills you can't put a color (dark or light) over it. I actually went the day before our HM & had them painted a tropical color!!!!

I'd do permanent french. I think it looks classic. If you want, you can always polish over the french.

I Normally do the perm french and you can polisho over it at anytime. I also prefer the gel over the acrylic. I feel that if i use polish then it lasts longer, and with acrylic i usually have to go every two weeks for a fill in. As with the gel it's been almost 3, 3 1/2 weeks and i just need a fill in now.

Re: OK, I'm doing it. FAKE NAILS.
I had acrylic perm french for my wedding. I kept them for about 2 months (month before and a month after my wedding).
I love the look of perm french. They look classy, match every outfit and when they start to grow out, it's not as noticeable.
Perm French is my vote!
Here's a pic of my nails the morning of my wedding. I took it to show the detail on my veil.

I have acrylics and I use the UV gel topcoat. I find that acrylic lasts the longest betwen fill-ins.

I would get the perm french. You can always paint color over them. And, I would keep them on the short side. That looks much more professional than long ones.

Definitely go with a Perm French. But one suggestion if you get them now - get a new full set for your wedding. Nothing looks better then a new full set of perm french

Re: OK, I'm doing it. FAKE NAILS.
Got perm french today....my wedding is exactly 2 months away, so I'll get another full set for that.
I went to the salon in the back of Cactus in Deer park - he did a great job!

Acrylic perm french with some UV gel topcoat thing. IDK - I'm soooooo not a girl when it comes to these things.
