OK ladies - reassure me that I won't traumatize my child....
After a lot of thought, a lot of lost sleep, and even more thought, I decided to switch Cailen to a new daycare. I have been so unhappy with the way things have been going at his current daycare. This daycare is so calm, structured, and they follow a very specific curriculum. When we came to see the place, the kids were all sitting at the table working on a craft project. I saw this place when I was pregnant and liked it then.
The thing is, he has been at his current daycare since he was 8 weeks old. It's like a 2nd home to him.
Cailen has been getting clingier with me lately as it is - especially in a new place with new people.
How hard is it going to be in this new place for him? He will be almost 20 mts old when he starts.
Will he be traumatized?

I always hesitate switching DD for the same fears (and still havent) BUT my friend was having issues with her daycare and recently switched her son (he was about the same age as Cailen.) She said it took a good month, but now he LOVES his new center just as much as his mommy does. So hang in there, you know better than he does

I haven't been too happy for a while but kept him there because I didn't want to uproot his world, but now he is sometimes lumped in a classroom with 3 yr olds who upset him, so it's really getting crazy....

There will be tears the first two weeks, but he'll adjust. It happened with Nate when we switched his daycare when he was 2yrs old. Once he got used to the teachers and the kids, he was fine.
You are doing what you feel is best for his care and development.

He won't be traumatized. He might have to adjust a bit but he will make new friends, meet new teachers.
It will be OK.

You're right, it probably won't be easy...but he'll definitely adjust [and he won't be traumatized]. And from the way you describe it, you really do need to move him to a new location!

After the first week, I am sure he will be fine. I am switching Grace too in January and although I know she will miss her daycare provider, I know she is going to love her new school even more.

I think he will adjust rather quickly. He may be picking up at the chaos at his current daycare and may enjoy more structure at the new center.
