OK, seriously...how tacky can a person be?

that you ask for us to chip in for Thanksgiving dinner because "every penny" is accounted for in your budget????

how much can it cost to make a dinner for 6 adults and 2 kids and an infant????

Re: OK, seriously...how tacky can a person be?

wow-- that's crazy.

Then you really shouldn't be hosting-- or ask each person to bring something else so you can afford to make the meal.

Exactly, ask someone to bring a side dish or dessert, that's ok, but to ask for money! Oy.

i think making a thanksgiving dinner for That many people Can get expensive.. but i agree that the host should have asked everyone to be in charge of a side dish. That's how we do it in my family- so that its not just one person burdened with the cost And work- we all get to be burdened equally Chat Icon

TACKY !! - Seriously it's ONE dinner, ONE day out of 365 - and 6 adulst is NOT a big group to cook for. - If you offered to host and invited people, you DO NOT ask them for MONEY ! - OMG !!!

Re: OK, seriously...how tacky can a person be?

In her defense, a Thanksgiving dinner can be very expensive. We never get out of it without spending $300+

BUT, you don't ask people t contribute $$. That's ridiculous. You may ask someone to make their famous sweet potato pie or bring a dessert, but if you can't afford it, don't host!

I really would love to ask certain people to chip in for our dinner (not because we need the money) but out of principle because we host every holiday but I would NEVER actually do it. Totally TACKY to the max.
I mean the turkey is probably the most expensive thing.
Potatoes cheap
gravy cheap
stuffing cheap
pumpking pie cheap...you get the point.
Uggh some people.
