Ok so not only did I get laid of but
now I have to train the people who are taking over our positions. How insulting is that. I am so upset - I am surprised at myself.

I am curious, why are you still there, training replacements if you were laid off? That must be so hard - to go to work every day, knowing you won't have a job soon and training the replacements. I don't know if I could do it.

We are being compenstated for this but we have to stay until May 31st in order to get the package. If we leave now we get nothing.

That really stinks but I've done that before. It's pretty degrading. But I would take some days off and interview.
Try to make the most of it.

I'm not an HR person...but can they do that? Are you laid off due to restructuring? I'm guessing it's not performance based because it sounds like several people are leaving at once. But I don't think they can lay you off and then hire someone to do the same exact position unless the reasons for the lay off are performance based...am I wrong????

The jobs are being moved to Poland. My co has an office there. I guess its cheaper to move the positions there. 4 of us got laid off at the same time.

It's totally within the employer's rights, assuming that these people don't want to move to Poland.

Since you have to stay there until May 31st, I'd show them just the minimal.
