Okay so I guess this is my first official question...
When to tell???? I just found out yesterday. I was very close with my mom who has passed and I know I would have been right on the phone with her right away.
My question is conerning my dad. We have a great relationship and this would be his first grandchild. With his health issues and such, I would love to tell him as soon as possible. It is also his 71st birthday today. He and my sister would be the only ones we would be telling right away.
I guess I am walking around with that traditional "don't tell till 3 month rule" floating in my head. Like I need some sort of permission to do what is right.
What y'all think?

I told my family and close friends early.
I saved the 3 month rule for everyone else.

Thanks for the responses.
I am new at this (could you tell) so I guess I am searching for proper "pregnancy etiquette".

We told the important people right away - parents and siblings. Basically, they all knew within a week of us knowing. Friends and extended family were told between 8 and 12 weeks.
I say tell!

we told our parents 2 days after we found out. our sisters and grandparents will have to wait another 2 weeks, and we will tell very close friends later after our first doctor's appointment. i am not the type of person that can keep a secret!!

We waited, but that was only because my brother had just had a baby when we found out and I didn't want to ruin their time. I told my parents at 7.5 weeks and friends/co-workers at 11.5 weeks. We waited to tell the family until we heard the heartbeat.

I had no problem telling the people close to me because I wanted their support. I def think you should tell your dad and your sister. It sounds like they would be very happy

For me - it was impossible to keep this big secret. We told our parents after our first dr appointment (5 weeks). And the remainder of the family after our second sono (9 weeks).

I say tell them...it would be a great birthday present for your dad.
I told my family right away (less than a week after I got my BFP) and I never regretted it.
