i like the idea for sentimental reasons. i am excited to put it in the closet and think "wow a real person is going to be wearing that in 10 weeks." really, there is no real logical or compelling reason to have an outfit set aside for the many reasons posters have listed above. so, it's a case of "to each her own."
ITA. Also, I can't wait to look back on pics of bringing her home for the first time. Pics in the carseat, when we get home, etc. Totally for sentimental value!

Re: Okay so i have to ask... coming home outfit
I went into the hospital with a beautiful white knit outfit to bring my baby home in, I spent a little over 50.00 on it.
Well...the day we were suppose to leave, he lost so much weight, was jaundice, smelled so bad of breastmilk...the hospital wanted to keep him for another day. When I finally convinced them to let us leave, I wanted to bolt out of there that I just threw him into Gap pj outfit, that was a hand me down and went home to give him a bath.
I did use the original outfit for changing him out of his christening gown.

Yes- I've been doing some thinking, and it's probably on the same field as buying a "day after wedding brunch" dress. Or a hoodie to wear while getting your wedding hair done. Obviously not a necessity, but still- why not.
good comparison! and i was the sucker who spent a lot of money on rehearsal dinner, day after, and leaving for honeymoon outfits. so just continuing the trend! i've been very restrained with other baby buying, though, so it's all good.
