Re: OK..seriously..who pays $50 for Shoes for their kdis???

My mother doesn't understand why I don't shop at Stride Rite for all the kids shoes. I can see one pair a season but they ruin their shoes so soon that I would rather go to payless or target.

I only buy Stride Rite because they are IMO the best shoes for kids. And as my Mother told me over & over again. Be good to your feet you only get 2.

I buy Emily most of her shoes from Stride Rite, but I always go during a sale - buy one get second half off, etc. Or I go to the outlet in Riverhead.

Re: OK..seriously..who pays $50 for Shoes for their kdis???

I have always bought Stride Rite for Ava. They are always at least $50 a pair. She had double-extra wide feet, but now is just a wide.

It definately hurts to spend that much, but sometimes you can find them at Marshalls, and also Riverhead has a stride Rite outlet.

I say, if you really like them buy them!!

I do and have paid more.........I only get their shoes from Stride Rite.

Ava is a wide and Jack is an extra wide - we literally try on half the store to get ONE pair of shoes that really fit.

Sorry to say it but the cheaper shoes never do it for us......unfortunately. However, when it comes to the kids and their growing feet I have no problem with it and would gladly go without a nice pair for myself to give to them.

Re: OK..seriously..who pays $50 for Shoes for their kdis???

I have only bought DD one pair of shoes so far, and they were Stride Rite. Painfully expensive. So I spend less on myself.

Here's my problem- how/where do you measure your child's foot to know what size they are? DD is only 1 year old and her foot grows so fast. If I order them from the amazon website, how on earth am I going to know what size to order?? What do you ladies do when you order online or go to the outlets?? I would be very happy to save $20 per pair!

even if kids wear stride rites doesnt mean they paid 50 dollars for them. we find stride right shoes all the time in marshalls for 12-20 dollars a pair.

Re: OK..seriously..who pays $50 for Shoes for their kdis???

I do too. I have always done what some people mentioned, buy one good solid pair. For shoes that arent used as often I would never spend that much. But everyday sneakers, I have. My DS #2 has the fattest feet, I can't assume that just any XXW will fit him unless I try it on him first. I'm not close to an outlet - and with his size, it will be hard to find there - so I will probably shop SR again in the fall for him. I have found that Payless has sandals that run wide so I didnt have to pay up for those this summer. I went to Payless for DS #1 for sandals recently and he "had to have" a pair of Transformer sneakers. They're not leather though so I don't think they will last as long as a leather pair but they are cute and he was so passionate about it so I got them. Any SR sneaks Ive purchased, he wears into the ground or until he outgrows so it's better that 2 pairs of cheaper ones IMO. My DD like any girl needs 10 pairs of shoes at least so many of them I dont get at SR or pay a lot for bc she trades off depending on her mood. But again for whatever she wears most, I want her to have good ones. I dont have the pockets to buy 10 pairs of SR shoes, at a regular store or outlet. My mother grew up very poor and has bad feet as the result of having to wearcruddy ill fitting shoes most of her childhood so she has always stressed the importance of good shoes.

You could go to the regular store and have him measured, try on a few pair and then say you have to think about it. And then order them online. However my experience has been that not all SRs fit the same, some run more narrow than others, depending on the style. If you can get a current style on line would be ideal if you get him measured at the store.

I have her measured at Stride Rite, then order Stride Rite online at shoebuy.com (with ebates & coupons)

I haven't paid more than $25-30 for any of her Stride Rite shoes. But I would, for a shoe I love.

I have too because my son has wide feet. I call them flinstone feet!

Ditto, but I would if he didn't too. I think it's important for growing feet to have good shoes with proper support, especially for new walkers JMHO.

Stride Rite's website has a thing you can print out to measure your DC's foot.

I try to buy Bella at least one, good solid stride rite pair a season...and they run 40-50 bucks...

ditto... I still do, unless of course I get them at the Stride Rite Outlet then its around $25-35

DS's sandals are not SR but were around that much, someone might think I'm nuts, but I justify it. My friend is on her 3rd pair of Payless sandals for each of her girls so far this summer. Aidans Keen's will never die.

I spent 40 on a pair of walking shoes from stride rite. However, that was a one time thing, now I go to payless.

Wait till you guys have older children. Boys sneakers for my 8 year old about $40. My 14 year old son $70. My 11 year old daughter, forget it. $120 Ugg boots, $65 for party shoes, sneakers $60 and alot of payless novelty shoes.

Honestly, I probably will when Megan starts walking.

I know my mom always paid a lot fo my shoes because I had wide and flat feet. It was ALWAYS stride rite for us and to be honest, it probably will be for Megan too. I just think when it comes to their feet, until they are a certain age, its important to buy the best.

Until recently I only bought Nate shoes from Stride Rite. I just got him a pair from Old Navy last weekend bc I haven't found any everyday brown stride rites that I like for him.

My friends do. I have gotten lucky and found everything I like with a sale or discount but if I really loved a shoe and she would actually wear it Chat Icon I would probably pay any amount of money, OK not any but you get the idea. Shoes are a real issue in our house Chat Icon
