Old Fashioned/Outdated Words or Expressions
I teach Middle School Foreign Language and 6th grade is the year where the students take both languages (French/Spanish) so they can see what they would like to take throughout HS.
Since 6th grade is their first exposure to learning another language in school I spend the first week talking about what language is and different forms of communication (i.e.. symbols, hand gestures, colors...) We also talk about how language changes over the years and different expressions go in and out of style.
I need your help in coming up with a list of outdated or old fashioned words and expressions. My students will have to try to figure out as many as they can.
Here are some that I have already: -groovy -mint -wippersnapper -dungarees -pop
TIA!!!

I don't know if this counts but I work in retail and someone I was ringing up asked if I needed her "plate". I had no idea what she meant until she whipped out her credit card.
