Old wives tales about baby's gender
Anyone find these to be true for them? I know they say your skin is often worse if you are having a girl and you become more hairy if you are having a boy. I don't know if either of these hold any scientific truth because of maybe hormones or something- wondering is these held true for anyone? When I was pregnant with my son, I definitely got more hairy and I don't seem to have that quite as much this time. Also, I had no noticeable change in my skin last time. This pregnancy, I've been breaking out more, and I just noticed I have that reddish "mask of pregnancy." Plus my scars are more noticeable this time, and my nipples got really dark! We are Team but it's still fun to guess!
Edited for typos!

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
I have noticed that my skin seems a bit more oily and I have small pimples on my forehead. They are so small but I notice them. They could also be from the heat and sweating. Not sure.

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
Im having a and my skin is terrible, I never really got any pimples before (would always get one that came along with my period and thats it) but now my face is breaking out and I have developed skin tags and have noticed changes in moles. So I guess its true for me!

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
Having a
Skin still is fine, everyone keeps asking me if I'm sure its a girl because she hasn't "stolen my beauty"
Had some morning sickness, but was SOOOO much worse with my son.
No hairy belly, but everywhere else is

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
So far both pregnancies are almost identical.
Terrible morning sickness, carrying only in my belly, clear skin, slow hair growth. This pregnancy I am carrying much lower.
Both girls ...I don't think the tales apply to me - everyone insists it's a boy (same with DD#1).

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
I'm having a and look exactly the same. So many people at work didn't even know because they see me behind my computer all the time. I had problem skin before and it has cleared up so nicley, so the old wives tale does not go for me.

Crashing... my skin was horrific when I was pregnant with DS, and it was fine when I was pregnant with DD, although my face did get fuller with her.

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
I am having a ! I have had no changes to my hair or skin at alll. I am pretty much "all belly" and random strangers in the stores keep coming up to me and telling me I am having a boy.

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
First pregnancy I gained weight EVERYWHERE. My face was really full but was very smooth and had cleared up from any blemishes I had before. My hair was full and dry. I was nauseous 24/7 but only got sick once....I had a
Second pregnancy was the complete opposite. I gained weight only in my belly. My skin was HORRIBLE, but My face was thinner. My hair was flat and oily. I threw up from 4wks to 13wks....i had a
So those old wives tales weren't all that true for me

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
Crashing - When I was pg with DS, I had all the "it's a girl" wives tales symptoms.
Broke out like crazy Less hairy/ hair grew back slower Wide belly "Stolen beauty" Etc.
And he is all boy! So now I really don't believe in any of that.
My friend from work has 3 daughters and has had 3 totalllllllly different pregnancies and has even carried differently each time.

Exactly the same for me and I had a boy. Also my hair which is usually normal got SO greasy I had to shampoo it with Dawn dish soap and I couldn't use conditioner.

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
I don't know what I'm having but my skin isn't clear anymore and I'm noticing fuzzy hair on my belly... Wouldn't it be nice if the baby would let us know naturally or like when you shake a magic 8 ball and it comes up.. "I'm a ____" Either way I take those quizzes and it's always split! I guess I'll just have to wait until February!

eta: my nose has also spread ~ they say you get that when you have a girl.

Lol I agree. Wives tales are a bunch of bs and Im convinced the "girl" ones were created to make people feel bad. None of them were true for me.
My skin was mainly clear (except for the beginning, then it cleared up toward the end), I had a pregnancy glow, carried somewhat small and only in the front (you couldn't tell that I was pregnant from behind at all), and my face looked exactly the same. I had a

Re: Old wives tales about baby's gender
The ones I've found to be true more often than not:
boy bellies tend to be higher and pointier girl bellies tend to be lower and rounder
There are some things I've noticed that can be true for some women but not true for all, but when they are true - they fall in line with the old wives tales. For example:
The old "if you're having a girl your nose will spread" - while that's not true for everyone pg with a girl, I've ONLY seen it happen on those pg with girls, not pg with boys.
But those are just my observations
