Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
We are team and it has been pretty fun trying to take guesses. But I really have no idea if it's a boy or girl. Maybe you can help me guess. Also, how many of your genders correlated with old wives tales? Here's a few of mine (I am 29 weeks today):
-Never got morning sickness or any kind of sickness.
-No acne problems. In fact, my skin hasn't been this clear in a very long time.
-My hair seems to be the same. It has grown a bit from prenatal vitamins but I don't think it's any thicker/shinier or thinner/more dull. My nails seem to be growing the way they always have as well.
-I am "all belly". MIL says "boy" for this reason alone. But I don't notice "carrying high" or "carrying low". Just... all belly the way the book shows.
-No swelling in feet/ankles/hands
-No "weird" cravings. I do enjoy milk, cheese and fruit every day. Also, no food aversions.
-I have no idea when I O'ed or what DPO we conceived.
-No linea negra.
I can't think of any other possible old wives tales. But I will say that if this kid comes out bald I am going to be mad! lol Major heartburn (if I have tomato sauce or chocolate usually).
So... what do you think?

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
We too are team and it is fun trying to guess according to these tales....
Going sight unseen based on what you write I predict your are having a ..... LOL hey I got a 50% chance of being right, right?!??!!
Some other tales you may want to refer to:
Your wedding ring hanging by a strand of hair - does it go around in a circle? or back and forth?
What does the Chinese gender chart say? Remeber use your lunar age!
Have you had any dreams of the gender Mommy?
And has Daddy gained any weight?
My 1st was a girl - although I was convinced that I was having a boy. Although in hindsight - all the signs were there that I was carrying a girl.
With my 2nd I am convinced I am having a boy, this PG is completely different.
I am 31.5 weeks...we are bound to find out soon!!

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
there's an old wive's tale that the baby's heart beat will determine if it's a girl or boy. slower paced hb's mean, chillax, calm = boy. faster, upbeat hb's = girl.
i will always remember seeing my new OB at 32 weeks preggo (we moved OOS during my 3rd tri) and telling him every other sentence that we were team . he took one listen to 's HB while hubby was in the room. dr. goes "hey, what's your name?" DH tells him "adrian" then the dr goes "say hello to adrian jr"
i was so shocked that he would say something like that but didn't let it ruin the surprise. and surprise it was!!! turned out to be a girl! hahaha

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
I also believe in the HB theory and with dd#1 the HB never left 170-180. This one is confusing bc it started at 170 and is now in the 150's. 150 and up is "usually" girl but 140's could be boy (so they say). Its too close of a call for me this time around.
BTW...based on your answers I am thinking boy for you.

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
Most of those would point to boy, but I had all the same, except for the sickness, and we're having a girl....so ya never know! I'm def. all belly and carrying low and my skin has been fine, everyone was shocked it was a girl.

I had the complete opposite of EVERY single thing you listed, except the heartburn! I did have heartburn really bad, but I had all of the "bad" things that you didn't have and I had a so I say you are having a OR you have a really cooperative little girl in there! lol

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
Thanks everyone. We will know in 2 months!
And the reason I posted was because half the quiz choices don't apply to me so it's hard to figure out. EX: Hair stringy and limp or thick and full bodied? Mine is just the same as it always was IMO unless I'm not catching on to something...

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
This is a cute test! I got 60% boy, 40% girl.
The one old wives tale I don't mind hearing is "It must be a boy, because if it was a girl she would have stolen your beauty, and you're still beautiful."

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
When I was prego, I fit just about every "girl" wives tale. Everyone swore it was a girl, and DH was 1000% convinced it was a girl.
Well, I had a beautiful baby !!! So I don't believe ANY of them now! lol

Re: Old Wives Tales and Gender - How true are yours?
I had all those symptoms...was told that I was having a boy from everyone and their mother, and it got to the point where I forgot that it was still a 50/50 shot, and just assumed I was having a boy.
You can imagine our surprise when the sono tech corrected me when I called the baby he, and said it was a she! Just goes to show you can't go by that at all.
