olive oil in my hair...now what!?!?!?!?!

So I've read in a number of places...to put good ol' olive oil in our hair to make it nice and shiny...

we'll I just tried it....put it in my hair, combed it through, saran wrapped my head for 30 minutes and then washed and conditioned after....

So after I straighten my hair with a hair dryer....it now just looks greasy and dirty?!?! I am so pizzed bec it took 30 min to straighten it!

I guess I am going to wash it again...any other tips...

and of course I am going out tonight...which I rarely do, and I don't want to look like a filthy animal!

HELP!!!

did you put it in your ENTIRE head? you're only supposed to put it in your shaft and ends!

also you need to shampoo twice (use a clarifying shampoo)

Ita, i would also skip the conditioner. The olive oil is good enough.

Oh no.....maybe sprinkle some baby powder on to absorb the excess and then rewash it!

ohh good idea..I was also thinking baking soda too bec that takes oil stains off clothes in the laundry! HAHA!

But now I fear that I will go in the opposite direction and it will be extremely dry! HAHA

I know it sounds nuts but wash ur hair with dish washing soap like dawn, nothing else..

it will take all the olive oil out..

i was baptised as an adult in the greek church and they pour olive oli over your head, hair, entire body (dont ask LOL) and the only thing that got the olive oil out of my hair was dawn dish washing soap! :)

Not nuts at all. I used olive oil as a lice treatment, and dawn is what we used to get out the oil.

definitely apply the shampoo on dry hair. if the hair is wet, it only makes it harder for the shampoo to absorb and do its job.

You can also try some diluted white vinegar (rinse it REALLY good or you'll smell like salad). Vinegar is a degreaser and will make your hair really shiny!
