One MORE question - I'm on a roll this morning - re: potty training and moving to bed

Do you think doing it all at the same time is too much for a little one to take in?

We were planning on putting Jack in his big boy bed when he turns 3 (June 28th) and then potty training a week or two after that.

Is that too much change at one time?

What, no poll????Chat Icon

My vote is that he can handle them both at the same time. It seems like the new bed would be the perfect time to get rid of the pullups - all "big boy" moves, so they totally work together. Just be patient, expect 2 steps forward 1 step back, and get a waterproof mattress cover!!!

We did it both around the same time (within a week or so of each other). DS wears a pull-up for night time only. He takes a 2 - 3 hour nap during the day in his underwear and only had one accident and that was because it was a longer than usual nap and he had drank a lot that day. Most mornings he wakes up dry and ask to go potty right away.

Personally...for Lucas and for me...it was too much so we did one thing at a time.

As you know...we tried potty training in November and that failed so we moved on to fixing up the big boy room in December and had him in by January. That worked out well and by February we moved back to potty training. It's been slow but he took the initiative and has been doing well..some accidents but we are working through that.

I know for my DS it would be too much at one time. We did big boy bed first and we're going to seriously work on potty training in a couple of mos.

He may shock you at how easily he adapts to the big boy bed. DS is the most rigid, routined kid who absolutely LOVED his crib but once he saw that new firetruck room, he wanted to sleep in the big bed and has never looked back. I can't believe it after how much I stressed over it!
