Operation No Paci - getting harder, not easier - BTDT moms, help!

As the no paci days go by Chat Icon Chat Icon

i thought it was supposed to get easier. He only slept 8 hours last night, was up at the crack of dawn and couldnt go back to sleep bc he had no paci.

My mom just called and he is refusing to nap, so hes BEAR right now and was screaming in the background bc now he is TIRED, cranky and wants his paci.

Did anyone else go through this refusal to sleep (its also taking him 2.5hours to fall asleep at night without it) when they did away with the paci at this age? DS is two BTW. When did everything go back to normal?

Next baby, no paci, I am NOT doing this again.

Im so going to cave!

My son was very attached to his pacifier so I could NEVER do it cold turkey. We did it very gradually, and there is no paci in daycare...little by little he is getting it less and less and doesn't even ask for it. Maybe you should try the gradual method first.

I wish I knew. We did the nukie fairy and she woke up at 2am like a crackhead looking through her toy bin for one. I magically made it reappear.Chat Icon

Now I tried the cutting the tip method. So far it's backfiring on us. It's almost non existent and she still takes it and wakes up 5 times a night because it falls out so easily!

We might do cold turkey again this weekend.

We did the cutting method. When she would put them in, she would pull them out and look at them strangely and we would tell her that they were broken. She hung onto them for a few days after that but we kept saying that they were broken and were garbage. She lost interest in them and we have been paci free for a few weeks.

She did ask for them for a few days and kept looking for one that wasn't broken, but it passedChat Icon
