Opinions please. sick DC and friends
I haven't posted in a while, but this situation this weekend is really upsetting me and I need some unbiased opinions.
DH thinks I am being way too sensitive and need to just let it go, but I am very hurt with 2 of my friends.
I was away on a business trip to London this week. New job, really stressed out, first time away from 3 yr old DS and 1 yr old DD.
I got home midnight Friday and DD was up all night. Apparently DD has had a fever since Thursday night. Between 100-almost 103 down and up, super cranky.
DH doesn't tell me till the next morning that she's been like this since Thursday.
I ride it out Sat to see how she is. Super crank and still feverish.
Situation 1: I text friend A (who also works at my new job but has been there for a while) to ask for the health insurance phone # bc I don't have my card yet and I need to take DD to the dr., explain situation to her. She texts back nothing but the phone number. No "I hope DD feels better", no "how was your trip". Just the phone number.
Situation 2: Friend B texts to ask if I want to go to the Bronx zoo with her and her twins. I text back "woud love to but DD is sick, etc. Raincheck, would love to hang out with you guys soon" NOTHING back from her. not even a response.
So, I'm really hurt by both of them. And maybe part of it is the stress from this new job, not getting any sleep from the london trip and jetlag, but I can't imagine one of my friends saying their kid was sick (even with a cold) and not responding "I hope she feels better"
DH thinks I am hormonal and loony.
So, what's your opinion? Am I making too much of it? ..

I think you're making too much of it, honestly. With kids sometimes I am not able to text or even check my phone for hours. I might send a text, then put my phone in my purse and not hear/feel when there's a response. Maybe friend A was in the middle of something and didn't want to get into a conversation by asking how your trip went, etc.
Also- with my old phone, texting was a huge PITA so my texts were as minimal as possible.
Is this typical of your friends? If it's not, just chalk it up to them being very busy rather than thoughtless.

Thanks!
I think I am upset bc they both knew how much stress I've been under with the new job, having to travel and leave the kids, and then to top it off with coming home to a sick baby, I was overwhelmed, and needed that quick "hope your LO is feeling better" , just that simple acknowledgment.
But I guess you're right. Everyone leads such busy lives these days and sometimes it's easy to forget the simple courtesies.
I appreciate the honest opinion.
