Organic Moms: going out to eat?

If your kids eat all or mostly organic at home, what do you do when you go out to eat?

Eat the poison!! Chat Icon Seriously though....I'm not organic but a family member is, and they just eat the regular food at the establishment. There really aren't any other options unless you bring your own. Which kind of defeats the purpose of going out to eat.

Re: Organic Moms: going out to eat?

We don't eat out often so when we do, we eat regular food. My thinking is that we go out so few times that the bulk of what we eat is organic, so eating conventional food once in a while won't undermind what we normally eat.

This!

I would LOVE to eat organic 100% of the time, but it's just not feasible with going out. We do take-out about twice a month, and maybe go out to eat twice a month (usually just me and DS to either Chipotle or Panera), so it's not that big of an issue.

He just eats the food at the restaurant. It's no big deal for me.

We have a goto place that has organic eggs so we usually get him eggs when we go there. Other than that he just eats what we are having. We eat vegetarian outside the home so it's not like he's having beef or chicken with hormones.

ETA: We don't eat out every day so it's not a big deal to me if he has some non- organic.

Re: Organic Moms: going out to eat?

My DS is almost 2 and he has eaten at the very least 90% organic since he's been on solids.

So, when we go out to eat, he eats. I make sure to pick places that I feel have healthy options and foods that are not processed. Nothing will happen if my DS consumes non-organic food.

I can't pretend that he'll always eat organic food as it's not feasible unless I plan on keeping him home from every birthday party and ban him from eating at friend's homes when he gets older.

Re: Organic Moms: going out to eat?

I eat organic at home, as does DD. We don't eat out every day, so when we do-- I don't worry about it. It's not like we are consuming non-organic food all day, every day. I have enough to worry about with what she'll eat, plus a nut allergy. Besides I don't know many places where you can get a totally organic grilled cheese.

I agree. We are lucky in that we have quite a few places within a few miles of my house who offer, antibiotic an dhormone free, local grassfed meats, organic veggies and fruits etc. So when we can we go there. Also we order them wild caught fish a lot. Chat Icon

Same with all the other ladies, we "let it go" while we're out to eat or at friends' houses.

Re: Organic Moms: going out to eat?

We eat all organic at home and barely eat out once a month. I bring food for LO but my older DS I don't restrict him when we go out. I try to go to places were I know they do organic or grass fed beef. There's a cafe in Amitiville that has some organic breakfast. Panera Has hormone free chicken and organic milk and yogurt. There's a burger place in Astoria that offers organic. Table 9 in Roslyn offers I think some organic chicken or salmon. Prime also has organic chicken. I do what I can.
