Organization Question

For those of you that are pretty far along - are you having anxiety that your house won't be in order when you leave to have the baby.

I am looking around the house now and I have a ton of laundry to do, some dishes etc. Nothing too major but enough that would drive me up a wall if I had to leave the house this way for a few days -- and then come back to it with a newborn.

Am I just crazy? Is there anything you are going to do about this? I was thinking of maybe doing laundry about every two days or so now just so that I'm all caught up.

My cleaning people come every other week and will be here on Monday so the house should be good for awhile.

Has this even crossed anyone else's mind? I am such a planner that it's hard for me not to know.

Re: Organization Question

Yup - going through that now. We caught up on laundry - washing and folding - this weekend but now I want to wash every few days to stay on top of it - I like your idea.

I find myself nesting lately - the closets get the brunt of this. Apparently I have convinced myself that having organized closets are necessary before I leave.

My biggest problem is staying on top of the dusting. If anyone volunteers to clean up before we come home - I am taking them up on it.

Re: Organization Question

My worst fear is that I will clean the house exactly the way I want it - and James will completely make a mess of everything while I am gone. They woudln't lock a new mom up for killling her DH for that would they??

Re: Organization Question

Yup, I was just stressing about this last night, again Chat Icon What is the nursery used to be a guest room, so we moved guest room stuff into our office to make it an office/guest room. Just did that last weekend, so the office is in disarray, so is the finished basement where a lot of things got moved to. So things are more out-of-order than normal, and it stresses me.

My family is all OOT and are coming next Thursday for Memorial Day weekend (my shower is next weekend too), so we'll have my mom, sister & grandmother staying with us in our smaller house for 5 days too Chat Icon I'm thrilled they're coming, but it will be stressful making room for everyone & keeping things clean.

And, since my family is OOT, when I go into labor, they'll be heading down here and will be staying at my house while I'm in the hospital and for a few days after we come home, so I'm stressed that the house will be a mess when we go to the hospital, and not ready for guests. Chat Icon

But, I'm trying not to stress too much. If it's messy, it's messy, they'll deal (and they are always helpful with cleaning, organizing, etc while here)...but I'd hate coming home from the hospital to a mess!

Re: Organization Question

Can I trade with you LOL???Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I have been Chat Icon Chat Icon here - I am on modified bed rest so I can't paint, can't so most things like pack etc or errands

We just closed on our new house. The floors were supposed to be done last week but got pushed off to today - and they take 3 full days then they need to dry so we won't be able to paint again until Sunday at the earliest - the entire 1st floor needs to be painted (Which includes OUR BR and the Nursery) as the upstairs is going to be a play room and gym/study. So this HAS to be done before we can move in. Since I can't help I really have no say in when this stuff can be done. My parents and DH work long hours so it can only really be worked on during the weekends.

So if we are lucky we can move in within the next 3 weeks. Lets just say that we checked in to see about the status of the baby's furniture (ordered in January) and the dresser is in but the crib won't be here for another 2-4 weeks at the earliest they told DH on Sat. We can't really bring the baby here (our co-op) as we have two cats and no way to block them out of our bedroom and most of our stuff is in boxes so we don't even have room for the pack n play. So if she comes early we might have to move in with my parents.

Top it off at my last OB visit they told me they hope I make it to 36 weeks I am 33w 4 days now!

Sorry for the vent - but I promise I will trade with you if you want our stressChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Organization Question

Yup, I am like this too. I keep the laundry to a bare zero and the house pretty clean all the time now, just because i don't want to leave a dirty house at home. Or even worse come home from the hospital with the baby to a dirty house and loads of laundry. I did the same with DD.

Re: Organization Question

I have not had a washer and dryer at my house for over 2 months now. Still waiting for the plumber to finish the job.

I can't deal with it so I don't say anything. Baby's clothes are not washed.

I am so frustrated. I get tired so quickly (with too much pain!!) that I can do what I would like to do in the house. I can't stand it!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Do you have somewhere else you can go and wash them? Like a family member or friend who would let you use their machine?

Re: Organization Question

I had a cleaning company come in and clean the house top to bottom, but I still had laundry to do (A LOT. DH wears a uniform, so when he comes home he changes, and if he works on his car, he wears 3 outfits a day...but I digressChat Icon )

After the cleaning company came, I went to the doctor's and she sent me right to the hospital. DH did mess the house up a little bit, but honestly he wasn't even home that much and I was in the hospital from Wednesday to Saturday.

My mom and sister did my laundry (and is still helping me with it b/c we are moving, but again, I digress) the day I came home from the hospital.

Re: Organization Question

This is something I'm trying not to freak out about but it is VERY difficult. My current apt is a disaster and I'm 36 weeks pregnant and we are moving in 2 weeks! I just want the new apt. to be all organized and unpacked before I have this baby!

Re: Organization Question

don't stress too much. It's actually a lot easier getting things done after the baby is born than when youre 9 months pregnant - for me at least. I'm not touching the new nursery until 6 weeks after the baby is born.

I did do a huge grocery trip though - as I was putting stuff in the freezer, I laughed - realizing that I am stocking up (I bought 7 frozen pizzas on sale!!! and we usually don't eat frozen pizza)
