DH and I were out today and went downstairs in Fortunoff to the Christmas store. I must say that it has an incredible display of items for Christmas.

In my search for the quintessential ornament as a gift for a family member, I noticed that my taste brought me to the very expensive ornaments. I thought to myself that if I had a tree, I'd be in the poor house and again wished some wealthy family would hire me to decorate their house for Christmas on their dime(s).

My question to you is, how do you not lose yourself in the beauty of the holiday by not buying everything in sight? I do realize that with many holidays, everything has become commercialized, but I did not feel that there - it was just a place full of people who wanted to make their homes beautiful for the upcoming season. I think if I celebrated Christmas, there would be no end.

simple answer - stay out of christmas stores until 12/26 Chat Icon

I agree about the after holiday sales but I also do buy about 2 - 3 special ornaments each year before the sales. Slowly I have started to build up a collection.
