Our family fun day turned into a trip to the ER
DH and I had our monthly day off together yesterday, so we deemed it 'family fun day'. We went to a kids playplace. DH and DS were climbing and running around the structure. Next thing I know, DH is just laying there and DS is running away from him. I figured DS must've knocked him in the balls. 
Nope. For some reason, DH decided to stand up real fast and cracked his head on a foam covered pipe. It wasn't the hit that fully got him, but the compression down his spine. It was as if he was 2 inches shorter. At first I laughed it off. But then we were heading for the hospital.
It's times like these that I really wished we had family around because dealing with DS in the ER was horrible. I had to leave and wander around the outside of the hospital with him because he was torturing everyone in the ER. I want to thank Kerie and Janet for offering help while we were there. 
DH is home and resting. But he is in a lot of pain. He is joking that the next time I say 'Would it kill you to play with your son?' that he will reply 'yes'. I'm still half laughing that he suffered a head injury at a kids playplace.

Oh my goodness Kelly! Hugs to your DH and I hope he feels better soon!
I guess maybe they should put a height limit sign at that playground so that you are warned if you are over a certain height!

Before he went up there we asked the workers if DH went up there to show DS how to climb around some of the tubes. They said 'of course, adults are up there all the time. Just take your shoes off.'

Awww Kelly, I'm sorry DH got hurt and your day ended with a trip to the ER. I'm not around Saturday, but can swing by Sunday afternoon if you need anything.

Kelly, you know I'm out here too until Sat. if you need anything. I know you have a fun filled day planned today  that you're looking forward to.
Glad Mike is okay though. Were they able to do anything for him?
(as a side note, I did the same exact thing once at a park w/ Gracie when I was pregnant....I got up quick & it literally knocked me back down. I sat on the little bench half out of it for about 5 minutes).

True. And he hasn't canceled the plans of his friend coming over this afternoon.
I wish I could start drinking.  Stupid job tonight.

Hope he feels better...They should put warnings on stuff like that.
I had a similar experience about 15 years ago at a local park. I was chasing my cousin around the park and I figured I would take a shortcut and go up the spiral slide and I whacked my head on the upper part of the slide. Knocked me right out. Thanks goodness I wasn't by myself. That was a trip to the ER. CAT scan confirmed the concussion. I pretty much stay away from spiral slides now.
