outdoor kittens and momma cat
Well its been a while (or it just seems that way) that our resident stray momma cat brought her kittens over to get fed. Every day we have been putting a huge bowl of food out and sometimes filling it twice along with a can of wet food and its costing us. I think momma cat really should of abandoned the kittens already since they are fully weened and big enough but she still guards them.
I have started to pet the kittens but they are still scared of me slightly. I thought by now I could of handled them and then got them into carriers to bring them somewhere to get adopted out but i am running out of time before they start breeding themselves.
I can't find anyone (i have contacted many people) to come to take them away and all I get is we will give you traps for $50 per trap deposit and I have to then socialize the cats so they can be adopted out. I simply can't bring in four kittens and a momma cat with my two cats in the house.
Any suggestions? Any help?

Unfortunately, I'm not really sure if I have any advice. However, I just wanted to say - I wouldn't expect the momma cat to go anywhere fast.
We have a momma cat and "kittens," and I say kittens in quotation marks because they are almost 4 years old, and she still cleans them and cuddles with them from time to time.

Even if you can't socialize them, at least get them neutered to stop the cycle. You can get low cost spay/neuter certificates, I think it lowers the price to 20 dollars. Aldrich Animal Hospital on Sunrise Hwy in Babylon takes the certificates.

Re: outdoor kittens and momma cat
There has to be someone who can help. They need to be fixed or it will become a nightmare, esp for you, with so many cats around when they start breeding. I FM you.

This is a huge problem around Long Island. No one will do it for you. The organizations will only guide you through the process.

I know someone who helped me in Queens. I don't know if she would go out to LI. If you are interested, FM me your contact info and I will pass it along to her if she is willing to help.

Re: outdoor kittens and momma cat
I reached out to another place and I am thinking I am going to get thick gloves on and have to pick them up and risk being bitten again and mauled to get them in a carrier to be taken in. I can do a few at a time financially but i am sure they won't trust me after I grab one or two of them.

Re: outdoor kittens and momma cat
Let me check my links when I get home.
When we did it, I was loaned a trap from an organization and then was given spay/neuter certificates.
Set that trap up with food, and they go right in and you dont need to to get mauled.

Re: outdoor kittens and momma cat
Here is the main LICP link for assistance to trap/neuter/spay.
http://licp.org/f_l_certificates.html
I contacted Last Hope and was able to meet a woman at Petco in Huntington where they keep some cats for adoption. She loaned me the trap.
Then for the certificate I either again used Last Hope (you have to order thru the mail) or Save-A-Pet. To be honest I can't remember which.

I would not do this. God forbid of Rabies....you need to trap safely and the right way, esp to catch them all. Try the LI Cat project as someone else said.

http://licp.org/trappers.html Try the above. You need to get the mom and kittens fixed asap. The above may be able to help.

Re: outdoor kittens and momma cat
so far no replies. I keep trying though. I am trying to keep them safe tonight with the storm. I left the garage door slightly opened with ropes tying it so it won't move any more open or it wont' close on them. SO far only one kitten went in and the rest of them haven't. I put treats, food, water, towels, toys and they are staying with momma under my steps which isn't blocking any elements.
I can pet them sometimes and then they snap and get angry at me.
