My parents have a mommy cat and 4 kittens in their backyard
What should they do? They have tried to catch them to bring them to a no-kill shelter, but they always run. She called the SPCA and they said my mom and dad have to catch them and bring them in. What can they do? Can someone come and get them for my parents?

Try contacting some organizations like "All About Spay/Neuter". They helped us and they may be able to come out and trap the kittens and spay the mom. Do a search on google and you should be able to find their website.

No one will come and do it for you. They need to do it themselves. Buy a Have a Heart trap from Home Depot and set it with sardines. You will catch one or two in about ten minutes!

This is not true. If you visit the Long Island Cat Project page there is a section labeled 'trappers'.
Depending upon the trapper in your section is what they can do for you. Most will just trap, take for neutering (you pay) and then they will release them where they picked them up. Maybe if you have something definite worked out with ASPCA they will drop them off there for you.
We contacted a trapper but they had such a long wait list that we didnt want to wait for the kittens to get too old to be fixed. We called Little Shelter and borrowed a trap, and got some reduced price neutering coupons from Last Hope Animal Rescue and did the process ourself.

You need to trap them asap and get them spayed. Mom will get pregnant soon and the kittens will start to breed when they get to be six months. Def contact the above group or another one called All about spay and neuter. Joanne is great.
Or rent some traps from the local shelters and do it yourself. Lots of places will offer low cost neutering.

You should calls PAWS. They have volunteers in Nassau and Suffolk. They will help you.

Absolutely untrue. Yes, they will have to pay, but as I stated in my post, there was an organization that came out and did it for us. You can get no/low cost spay and neuter certificates to help with the expense...and it is well worth it.
