Outlook question (rules and alerts)

I have about a billion rules in Outlook in order to stay organized.

There are a few rules that put my co-workers emails into specific folders (named after them). When these emails come, I am not alerted at all... no little envelope, no beep, nothing.

They are a subset of my Inbox:

Inbox
XYZ Staff
. Jane
. Robert
. John
(the rule puts the email directly into their name's folder)

Every other rule and folder (even archived ones that go right to my harddrive) give me some type of alert when email arrives.

Anyone have ANY idea how to fix this? What is so special about these folders that I do not get an alert when email arrives?

Is XYZ *IN* your inbox or just under it?

It's a subfolder of the Inbox (if I collapse the Inbox, XYZ goes away with it, if that makes any sense!)

Do you want to keep the rule?

If you go to the list of rules. Select the rules you want to modify, then click on the Change Rules button, select "Display in the New Item Alert Window" and you'll get a pop up box.

There's also an option to play a sound.

Or, you could keep your outlook window set to Unread Messages - they all show there but get filed in the correct folder.

HTH!

Thanks!
I clicked on "display in the new item alert window" and it's asking me to "specify an alert message". Any idea what that means?
