Paige has her speech eval. today...UPDATED
Wish us luck. I fill you all in later.
Update:
She didnt qualify. She has really strong comprehension skills and that combined with the babbling is what makes her just fine. Thank god. If she isnt speaking by 2 they said she can get evaluated again.
They just told me the things I should be say to try to teach her. So I feel a lot better.

good luck!!
i'm a speech therapist, so i'm always sooo happy to hear kids getting the evals or services they need!
she'll do great- the eval is so simple, and they really make it feel like they are just playing with her.

They just want you to always say what they are point at or grunting at. Paige always points at things so now on we have to say what she is pointing at.
When she puts her arms in the air for her to be picked up we have to say "up", etc.
Its all about that. Whats funny is that today, she was in teh bathtub and I said "do you want to come OUT" and i repeated the word out a few times and she started saying "OU" with no T. That according to the Speech Therapist is a word. And its all about comprehension too. Most of teh eval. was her telling Paige to do certain things to see if she understands. Paige understands everything.

thanks....my son understands everything that you tell him to do as well, thats why I am not too concerned. I have been doing that with whatever he points at, and for some reason, I tell him to look at mommy, and then I say the words while he looks at my lips....I dont know if this will help, but its something I always do!!!

How old is you dd? My dd only says HI at 17 months but the doc told me to hold off at least another month on the evaluation.
