pains/really uncomfortable at 27 weeks??
Hi ladies! All of a sudden last night, I started having pains in my pelvic area and just overall not feeling great-like my belly is kind of tight? I did some research and am thinking it might be the condition symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD). Anyone have any experience with this??? I have an appt on Friday so I'm thinking I'll just wait till then to talk to my midwife but I'm pretty uncomfortable. I've had a pretty great pregnancy so far so I guess I can't complain!

I had pains like that for a few weeks at that time and surprisingly they went away.

Re: pains/really uncomfortable at 27 weeks??
Interesting, I wrote about pelvic pains I was having last week! I called my dr about them and since I had called one before about the round ligament pains I was experiencing they decided to send me for a sonogram to check everything was ok. They did a sono of the baby and my organs (none of which made sense to me, since the pain is quite literally between my legs!).
Someone described it as a feeling like I had been punched in the crotch, or spent a lot of time horseback riding. It's good to have a possible name I can ask my dr. about. I find now that I am either getting used to the pain or that it is perhaps subsiding somewhat.
I've been doing yoga pretty regularly throughout my pregnancy (I'm 29ish weeks now) and I wonder if it is helping or exacerbating. The stretching makes me feel good overall, but something about that side triangle pose makes me wonder if it is aggravating the pain.
Anyway, I've heard from friends and others who've experienced it as well and all have said it eventually goes away.

If it's a legitimate 'pain' - and not just stretching/discomfort - and it does not go away, I'd call the dr. Better to be safe.

I'm experiencing this too. My belly also got noticeably heavy today. My next appointment is on Monday, and I'm definitely bringing this up to him. I don't remember this from DS1

I had what felt like stretching pains around 27 weeks too. I think they were literally growth pains. It was right around the time I popped. It's most likely completely normal, but definitely call or ask your doctor if you are concerned. It's always better to be safe.

Re: pains/really uncomfortable at 27 weeks??
Also, just FYI, I'm going to talk to my dr about the pain at my appointment Tuesday and will let you know what she says! At my last appt they suggested I look into this contraption for my back/RLP:
link
It says it also addresses the symptoms associated with SPD so I really might try it!
Please keep me posted if you find this is what you really have!

Make sure you stay hydrated!! Sometimes not drinking enough water can cause that. If it happens again, its worth a call to your OB

pains/really uncomfortable at 27 weeks??
Saw my midwife this morning, she said it was probably round ligament pain. It didn't feel the same as what I thought was round ligament pain a couple weeks ago but it has since gone away so I guess everything is fine! Heard the baby's heart beat and I'm officially in the third trimester! I asked when I would have another sono and she said I wouldn't unless something was wrong. A little bummed about not being able to see the baby again but that just means the next time I see him/her, I will be able to hold him/her! So crazy!

Re: pains/really uncomfortable at 27 weeks??
I'm convinced I had this with my first. Went to a physical therapist and they basically told me I was nuts. But all they symptoms matched like having more pain at night I only went to pt 2 times before I delivered so it really didn't do anything.

Re: pains/really uncomfortable at 27 weeks??
I was having severe pain at the end of my work days to a point where I almost couldn't make it to my train station. The pain was in the pelvis...really low, between the legs. Sharpest pain on the right side. I told the dr. at my appt. on Friday and they checked my cervix. Everything looked fine and they just chalked it up to ligament pain from growing and stretching. I went to BRU on Sat. and bought one of those belly slings. I have it on at work today and its made a difference. I still feel some discomfort when I stand but I can walk without actual pain.
