She is being a "typical teenager" in these pictures. Do I agree with underage drinking no. Did I do it yes. Is drinking getting worse as the years go by - yes.

But I don't think this has any reflection on her mother. How do we know her mother didn't find out about this and punish her? We don't.

Is she pregnant now? Yes. Bad situation for a 17 year old. Yes but there is nothing that they can do about it now but just make sure she continues with her education and the baby is well cared for.

As for not being focused on college, just because she's drinking doesn't mean she doesn't care about her future.

These pics make me think 2 things:

1- Thank GOD there wasn't the internet and digital pics when I was a teenager.

2- Thank GOD my parents weren't running for political office.

I don't think that just bc you're a teenager, drinking is a normal activity. I know kids are doing it earlier, but it doesn't make it right.

Besides the occasional sip of wine at a family gathering when I was 16+, I never drank when hanging out friends. Did I know people who drank, yes but I wasn't interested.

Bush and his drinking daughters. Edwards. Clinton. Spitzer. I know waaaay too much about the tabloid side of people's lives, butthere are many things I can't tell you from reading the news. How, exactly, does the tax code currently work, and how does each candidate plan to change it, if at all? What is each candidate's healthcare plan, with specifics? What is the precise structure of Iraq's government (beyond "democracy"), and what is its relationship with the U.S. re: influence in the world sphere? How much money does each candidate feel should be expended to keep NYC safe from terririst attacks each year? Why don't I know these things from reading the news? Because the news is too busy assuming I have an IQ of 2 and cruising facebook for stories about 19 year old kids to educate me as a voter!!!

I feel bad for all involved that private familiy matters are out in the open but at the end of the day what does this have to do with the issues. If anything it makes her more human. Palin has the same struggles as any other mother and yes obviously she is not running a perfect ship.

I did not drink as a teen because it was illegal. So although I could not care less that Palin's daughter is a teenager and drinking, I would not say 'of course she drinks'. There are many teens, like I was, that did not drink because it was ‘wrong’.

Me too. and my cousins who are in HS now aren't drinking either.

I don't think we can say "oh, she's 17, of course she's PG, of course she drinks..." because there are a LOT of kids out there NOT doing these things, who are more concerned about college and their future.

oh please !! - Just b/c a kid is drinking at 17 doesn't mean they have no concern for college or their future !! - Are we going to have THAT debata again? Your broad generalization is just as silly as the one you're annoyed with re: "ALL" 17 year olds drink ..........

Seriously, I would much rather the focus remained on the candidates and their qualifications, not on their kids. It really isn't fair to drag them through mud.
