Parents of 8 mos olds... What type of food (non-baby jar) do you give your dc?

Just curious!

Gianna has already eaten:

sliced banana (teeny pieces)
avocado
cheerios

and I would like to introduce more foods to her, but I'm not sure what, how much and what time of day to give this to her. When I do give these foods to her, it's usually at her lunchtime or dinner feeding.

What have you guys been doing, or what have you done in the past?

Thanks!!!

Alexa has gotten a lot of what we have eaten for dinner.....itty bitty slivers of steak, chicken, cheeseburger, beans, pizza crust and even had Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits last week Chat Icon

Her ped gave the go ahead on everything ( aside from the obvious peanut products, honey etc....) If its something we feel she can handle we let her experiment with it at meal time Chat Icon

I give my DD everything we eat and I've done so since she was 6 months old. (She has no teeth either and she does just fine) She eats chicken, turkey, cheese, pasta, hamburgers, fruits, veggies, eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc. I just put pieces of it on her tray and she feeds herself. When she's had enough she stops eating. She still gets four 6oz. bottles a day as well but she's slowly been eliminating one of those bottles.

Edit - She's almost 1 now. Chat Icon

I haven't given much yet, but DS eats puffs, mum mums, yogurt and either small pieces of fruit or fruit through a mesh feeder (so far watermelon, cantaloupe, and bananas). I plan on giving him cheese this weekend and I'll probably try egg yolks sometime over the next few weeks.

Re: Parents of 8 mos olds... What type of food (non-baby jar) do you give your dc?

DS has really had no interest in table food. I have tried mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pastina, chicken, egg yolks, broccoli and he spits it all out.

Right now he wants everything pureed. He does eat soy yogurt in additon to baby food and he loves to suck/chew on a dairy free teething cookie I found.

I would like to give him more, but I won't force it on him, I'm sure he'll let us know when he's ready Chat Icon

ETA: I do give him fruits in the mesh feeder, he'll chew on them for a minute or so before losing interest.
