I have 2 girls and no, I will not pierce their ears at a young age. I think it's fine for other babies, but not mine. I will wait, or give them the option, maybe for their Communions or around that age if they would like. I can't say I have a particular reason--I just wouldn't like it.

Re: Parents of Girls

I got DD's ears pierced last sunday...she was 9.5 wks...I wanted to get them done when she is young #1 because i love little baby girls with pierced ears #2 so that when she is teething i dont have to worry about her ears healing and her pulling at them, since i was planning on getting them done at a young age anyway.

I have found that everyone has a dif. opinion on the topic, I have had comments that are good about having it done so young and ppl who think I am awful. In the end its your decision she is your daughter.

NO, we are waiting until she is old enough to make the decision for herself. My parents did that for me, and I was old enough to appreciate them and care for them. That's the way we'll go.

Re: Parents of Girls

Dh and I decided not to do it until she asks for it. Then it can be a bday gift or something like that.

We pierced DD's ears at 4 months. I wanted her to be young enough so that she isn't pulling at them. I had mine done when I was 7, and I was so scared, and it was such a big deal. She had no idea what was going on, and only cried for 1 minute. I love the way it looks. I had it done at the mall and they did a great job!

Re: Parents of Girls

Coming from a very pierced up mommy...I have been debating this since the day she was born. For me...I want this to be something that DD decides she wants and I want it to be special for her when she asks me "Mommy, can I get my ears pierced?"

Re: Parents of Girls

Nope- I don't really care for the look of babies with earring. If she wants them done when she's older she can.

DH and I talked about this and we decided to wait. I would feel HORRIBLE if DD happened to catch it while she was sleeping or playing as she got older and besides there is no reason that a baby needs to have her ears pierced.

Re: Parents of Girls

I am tied as what to do as well. Is it true that if you don't do it by a certain age, then you have to wait?

Re: Parents of Girls

I got Julia's ear's pierced when she was 3 months, I wanted to get them done when she was a baby because she didn't know where her ears where yet so she couldn't play with them and get them infected.

I would get them done while she is young and won't play with them.

Ditto, I don't have my ears pierced. Never wanted them and I'm glad that I had the choice.
