I seen lights up, and although it may be early it gets me excited that christmas coming. It reminds of the holidays, all of them even the fact that thanksgiving was approaching. Then i think of family and all that cheesy good stuff that goes with the holidays.Chat Icon

We put all our lights up this afternoon & they are all on at this moment. To us, the holiday season is already here. My entire inside of the house is decorated with the exception to our tree (will cut down next weekend).

If people are annoyed by the early lights they are going to hate me bc we dont take our light out until January 6.. Is a culture thing, we celebrate the arrival of the 3 kings and in the Hispanic countries that is the day the kids get the present and then you take your tree down. Its a big holiday and tradition so hold your horses Chat Icon

DH was out there today....he's not all finished but probably will be lit up by the end of the weekend. It's only once a year, and it takes so long to decorate so it's nice to enjoy it for more than 2 weeks or so....I enjoy seeing the lights on people's houses. Not sure why it would annoy people? To each his own..............

I dont think the complaints about lights being up too long starts until super bowl Sunday -- so you're ok. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Passed a house last nite with Christmas lights all lit up

Honestly Who cares? Does it really affect your life if people have christmas lights up to early?
Are you paying their electric bill?
If you don't like it, don't look at it...drive right by!

As far as people saying that "people" dont care about thanksgiving...What matters is that You make the most out of thanksgiving, if you want to celebrate it in a big way with family, giving thanks, etc, then you should.

Stop worrying about how other people are celebrating or not celebrating the holidays!

There's a house all lit up on Johnson Ave. in Sayville that has a countdown to Christmas in lights on the fence. Saw that this weekend.

I have started to take Johnson home just so I can pass that house! I'm stunned that someone would go outside and re-wire the number every day.. especially when I know it's going to be drama just to get my husband to hang a regular string of lights sometime before Christmas Day!Chat Icon

As to early lights? It doesn't bother me at all. My kids have been excited for Christmas for at least a few weeks. I feed off of their excitement!!

Re: Passed a house last nite with Christmas lights all lit up

Thanksgiving was late this year so it's normal for people to put them up this weekend. Plus it was so nice out today. My kids were so excited when DH put them up today. We typically do it later but then we don't have time to enjoy them and DH freezes while doing them. So I guess we're one of those homes that annoy people but I don't really care. My kids are happy and that matters more to me then if people driving by think I'm an idiot for having my lights up before December.
