Passport ?
This will probably get moved but who's llokin at the travel board at 11pm? I am officially divorced as of May... my court papers say I can change my name back to maiden name...going to Germany in Sept...have married name on passport, married name on liscence, and credit cards still. Would you wait to change it?

I probably wouldn't take the chance in trying to get a new passport right now...being that you need one to go everywhere now.
But, on the other hand, I'd probably want to get my name changed ASAP...
Tough call...but, I think maybe you should wait...

I'd wait to change it after you get back from Germany. The backlog of passports means a really long wait and you don't want to chance it.

as much as you probably don't want to use that name anymore, the backlog in passports in ridiculous.
you are better off just holding off. no need to let passport stress ruin the planning of your trip.
I was there for 3 weeks last June. if you need any help or tips, let me know! It's so beautiful!

They changed it at work at least..email and IM. That's where I am most of the day anyway. I work 630am til 430pm now!!

My coworker had her passport in her maiden name. even though she changed to her married name she could still use it because she kept old her liscence and other forms of ID with that name - and she was fine for a few months that way. Just an idea incase you change your name and can't get a new passport fast enough. I dpn't know how legal that is though

I would change everything now. You never know what comes up. If you do everything now you have time to get it all done. passports are taking about 8 weeks, if you get it expedited you can get it in about 3 weeks. You can also pay an expediting service for about $150 on top of regular fees.
It doesn't matter if everything else matches as long as your passport is changed. I guess you would have to submit the divorce papers.

Passports are taking a lot more than 8 weeks. My brother is waiting 3.5 months for his, which he needs for his honeymoon next month. They said to call them if he still doesn't have it 2 weeks before his trip.

He's going to Mexico, so as long as he brings his proof that he submitted it (I guess the page off the website that says in processing?) he will be ok. He checked on it and they said that he needs to wait until 2 weeks before his trip to call again.
