Paying waitress for party

We are having a party at a local park (about 50 guests) and being a former waitress myself, was planning on hiring one of my waitress friends to set up the party decorations for us, help serve the food, and help clean up. She would need to be there for about 6 hours with probably only 3 hours of real work to do. How much would you pay?

Re: Paying waitress for party

I would think about $100 dollars would be good. I used to work at catered parties and that is around what I would get. This was a few years ago though so maybe I am off base. Chat Icon

Re: Paying waitress for party

I know a few people who do this and they get $125 for 4 hours and $25 an hour after that.

Even though it's only "3 real hours of work" she'll still need to be there the whole time...KWIM?

Re: Paying waitress for party

We hired a waitress for our party in March - Andersen's provided it along with the food. She was $25 an hour, minimum of 4 hours.

She was SO worth it. She set everything up, made sure the timing on serving cake and coffee was right, cleaned up all the food, got drinks for those who needed it. She was outstanding.

Re: Paying waitress for party

It's usually 25 or 30 an hour depending on who you get.

Debbie (Smiley) does this - and if she's busy that day she can recommend someone.

I also have another friend who does it if you need a recommendation.

By me it is $30 an hour with a minimum of 5 hours if I go through a company. If I get my neighbor's SIL who does it on the side it is the same amount but no minimum

Re: Paying waitress for party

I think if she has to be there for 6 hrs, then she should get paid for 6 hours. I would like about $125-$175

Re: Paying waitress for party

There is no question about being paid for 6 hours. I just wrote that to show how busy she would be, if that even matters.

Yes i could, just wanted to have an idea first on the going rates. I know what they make at a busy night at the restaurant where they work, so what i was thinking would be similar to that, and it won't be nearly as busy at my party. Seems from the responses i was right on target too.

Re: Paying waitress for party

I spoke to my brother - he said about $25 an hour
and he would also get a tip of $25-50 on top of that.

Hope that helps Chat Icon

Re: Paying waitress for party

She might be busier than you think.

I used to do it for a caterer and on my own.

In "down" time, you prep coffee, set up table for next round of food, clean tables, empty garbage and put new garbage bags, bag/store all the extra food for host, put in fridge, etc....
