People never cease to amaze me

So I walking through a parking lot tonight when I see this little car w/ 3 little dogs in it. The windows were open only approx 2 inches and they were barking their heads off. The place I was at could have people park there for hours. A few others passed by and mentioned that other visitors had mentioned the dogs 45 minutes ago!

I waited for about 15 minutes to see if anyone would come to the car. After this time I called the PD. I waited around for a little while since it was a big lot. I spotted a security guard and told him the situation. He drove passed the car and said "well, the windows are opened about 2 inches, so they should be fine...it's not like it's a 90 degree day". I told the guard that cars can get warm for dogs very quickly and they have been without water for at least an hour. He shrugged and said he could do nothing (not that I was really expecting him too. I basicly told him in the event the PD came). I waited a little while longer, but I could wait no more. I had to get home. I am really worried about those pups. Do you think I over-reacted? The guard made me feel like I was some over-zealous maniac.

You did the right thing. Some people are just ignorant !!!
I actually purchased flyers from Peta for situations just like this.
I am so tired of seeing dogs left in hot cars!

I know it's considered a "non-emergancy", but these poor pups were defenseless and barking and jumping around getting themselves all worked up in this tiny car. I wanted to cry for them. I got so mad at the guard. Oh, it's not too hot huh? Let's put you in a locked car w/ a fur coat w/ the windows opened a crack!
