People who delivered at Good Sam...
give me advice
the good the bad and the ugly.
do they give the mesh undies everyone talks about? i have heard its tough getting them to take the baby... if you have a private room is it impossible to have them take DC? what are the odds of actually GETTING a private room?
due in 4 weeks.... and looking for any "tips" (if that's what you want to call it)
someone told me as much as you may not think so - if you have a shared room take the side by the door - its bigger and you have a closet... ?

Re: People who delivered at Good Sam...
4 weeks!!! SO exciting!!!!
I delivered there and had no issues at all, but I was a planned C-section so I don't know if that made a difference.
The staff was all very friendly.
We opted for the private room and I would recommend it..it wasn't difficult to get at all. I chose to keep the baby with me so I'm not sure if it's hard to get them to take them to the nursery. I don't think it would be though, they asked each night if I wanted to keep him in the room.
They did give me the mesh undies but I brought Always Discreet - basically Depends - and found them to be so much more comfortable.

Thanks Ash!!! I can't believe how quick it went!!
I am probably going to keep the baby with me the entire time, but just in case - I heard it was difficult to NOT have the bay with you.
I have to look into the always discreet. I bought super overnight pads and they just look... well... not comfortable haha the always are good for this purpose too? not just incontinence/bladder issues?

Re: People who delivered at Good Sam...
I delivered DD1 at Good Sam in 2013. I don't remember getting mesh underwear to bring home but I did get them in the hospital. They gave me jumbo pads to bring home. I didn't opt for a private room but I only had a roommate the day I left for an hour or so. The other 4 days i didn't have a roommate. My family was free to go and come during visiting hours. As many as I wanted. When my friend delivered there in 2014 she asked for a single room and it was really small and they limited visitors due to size. it's a gamble.
Again, I delivered there 2013 so DD spent the first couple of nights in the nursery while I recovered from my C section. I was on magnesium which makes you very lethargic and incoherent so they didn't trust me with the baby.

Yes! They work great! I used them after my c-section and brought them to the hospital for my cousin after she had her son naturally, she said they were a lifesaver!

Dd was born in 2013. No mesh undies and no private rooms at that time. I had dh grab me depends because the pads they provided did not provide me with enough coverage for all my bodily fluids. The private rooms are first come first serve basis and they really are against taking the baby at all. I'm doing the tour again in May to find out what has changed from 2013 to now.

I took the tour and they make it seem like they'd take the baby whenever no problem. But I have been hearing otherwise lately from people who delivered there. I shouldn't have any issues taking the baby the entire time I just would like the option in case I'm sore if I need a c section or something like that.

Re: People who delivered at Good Sam...
I delivered there 3 times, 2011, 2015 and then September 2016. During the last two admissions I got a private room. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend doing it if you can swing it. The rooms are clean, private and having your own bathroom is priceless. The nursing care was great. I never had any problems at all.
They did give me mesh underwear the last 2 times.
They did take the baby to the nursery at night but you have to be persistent with it. My OB told me they are not allowed to say they won't take the baby and if I had a problem to call him. It never once came to that. My nurses were really great.
I have ZERO complaints about any of my stays there but my last 2 were better than the 1st since I had the private room.
