People who lease cars
Have you ever traded your car in mid-lease? We are thinking about getting the newer model of the car we have now, also in a hybrid.
We have two years left on our lease, and neither of us have ever leased a car before this one... was just wondering if this would be possible, without any major financial ramifications.
If it's only a few bucks more a month, we would consider it.

I will probably do this, as long as there is no penalty. I know someone who does this frequently, with no penalties, but he is a loyal mercedes customer so I think that has something to do with it. I know that my dealer said we'd be contacted about 24 months into the lease and given the option to renew sooner, but I dont know if you can do it earlier than 24 months. How long is your lease?

Re: People who lease cars
It's pretty unusual to get out of your lease with that much time to go. usually a few months is about it.
It's worth a try though since you are leasing the same car company again.
Higher end car companies like Mercedes may do this regularly but not the middle of the road companies.
Let us know if it works for you.
Good luck.

Re: People who lease cars
we got a long lease because we figured we wouldn't need/want a new car any sooner... so, it's 48 months..
I am interested in a new one mainly for the hybrid aspect..
We are happy with our car, so if we can't do it-- we are totally fine.
We'd be getting the same car, from the same dealer, just a 2008/hybrid.

Re: People who lease cars
i looked into this after 1 year of my 3 year lease. the dealer said that we could do it but we'd have to pay a penalty or try to work the penalty into our payments. he said if we wait another year i probably have no penalty or it will be alot less so we decided to wait until next year. i love my altima so its okay if we have to wait a bit longer.
