phthalate free shampoo, wash and lotions, can anyone recommend one?

I was at work all day and not sure if anyone has posted about the article in Newsday today. About how phthalate is in shampoos and lotions and other beauty products used on babies. And how they cause reproductive problems in male babys and bring on puberty early in female babies.

My shampoo doesnt list it (DEP or DEHP) but as of now there is no law saying they have to.

Anyone use Phthalate free shampoo, soaps and lotion that they can recommened.Chat Icon

I am pretty sure California Baby or something like that in Whole Foods is a good one. I have to go out this weekend and buy new ones. Our J&J is almost done anyway.

Here.. I read awhile back. few people posted about it causing cancer. I was using at first, then read that and stopped using.

I bumped the post.

Whole Foods. But Trader Joe's is a great place to look. Burt's Bees also has baby products that I bet are pthalate free. Chat Icon

I use Burts bees for my DD - and I even started using their products for myself seen as she showers with me a lot. California baby is good too.

thanks for bumping the post. I looked on line for j&j and cancer and thankfully the ones that I use for DS are not on the list. I use the bedtime bath soap in the purple bottle and the regular shampoo it is yellow and in a clear bottle. Neither of these have any of the bad ingredients listed. phewww.

This is what we use for DD, but I was checking out the bottle again and it doesn't tout it as being phtalate-free, you would think it would, right? Plus it always bothers me that the shampoo says 96.08 (or something close) natural, and the lotion is 98.something all natural...I want ALL natural. Plus, it lists fragrance in the ingredients-- this isn't 'bad fragrance'?

We love their products but it does bother me.

In the article today, it says the companys do not have to state if it contains phthalate. It just has to state some of the chemicals in it, not all. They are trying to make it mandatory that they do list all chemicals in it.. they say to look for DEP OR DEHP, those usually mean it contains it.

As far as I know J & J is not Free of it...they do not need to list all ingredients.

Many companies dont b/c they can call it a trade secret to not release.

Theres no doubt in my mind its in there..and I use it, but am planning to change

The study said there isn't even enough evidence to support this study. Honestly I'm getting sick of being scared of everything.

I understand your point, I do, but they said the same thing about lots of other things which later proved toxic.

also the reason theres not enough evidence is due to lack of human testing, whos going to willing let their child be tested with massive doses equaling a lifetime worth of usage?

No-one..

so I think everyones entitled to use at their own will, but statements like that while trying to maybe curb a mass hysteria outbreak and calm yourself is sometimes offensive to those of us who choose to limit our usage of it or not use it...b/c it sounds like your implying its silly not to worry and as a parent and I feel a very well educated one, Its my job.

I agree....they have been saying this about J&J for so long and many other things.
When they pull these items off the shelf, that is when I will stop using that particular productChat Icon

me too. Also I feel guilty continuing to use something that i read may be of danger to my child even if its not conclusive. I much rather spend my time at least trying to find out. I did email Aveeno and inquired if there baby products contain this, i havent gotten an email back yet. I figure if they do not write back, i will try once more, and if still no answer, i will take that as a yes. (sorry for the run on)

I use California Baby and will only use California Baby. It's not worth taking a chance IMO. It isn't more expensive really and it works great.

I use Aveeno shampoo and body wash in one. I was using Johnson and Johnson until our ped. recommended (lotions) and mentioned that J&J (I think he was pretty much referring to the wash and lotion) was "Perfumy".
