The study said there isn't even enough evidence to support this study. Honestly I'm getting sick of being scared of everything.
I understand your point, I do, but they said the same thing about lots of other things which later proved toxic.
also the reason theres not enough evidence is due to lack of human testing, whos going to willing let their child be tested with massive doses equaling a lifetime worth of usage?
No-one..
so I think everyones entitled to use at their own will, but statements like that while trying to maybe curb a mass hysteria outbreak and calm yourself is sometimes offensive to those of us who choose to limit our usage of it or not use it...b/c it sounds like your implying its silly not to worry and as a parent and I feel a very well educated one, Its my job.
I could not have said this better myself!
me too. Also I feel guilty continuing to use something that i read may be of danger to my child even if its not conclusive. I much rather spend my time at least trying to find out. I did email Aveeno and inquired if there baby products contain this, i havent gotten an email back yet. I figure if they do not write back, i will try once more, and if still no answer, i will take that as a yes. (sorry for the run on)
WHoah, everyone is entitled to do what's best for their family and the statement above didn't imply that YOU should stop being scared. She just simply stated that's she's sick of being scared of everything, not that anyone else should feel that way or feel guilty.
I agree with her. All these studies are coming out inconclusive but pose soemthing in but non definitive.
All we can do is take the studies, do our own research and make our own decisions based on what we feel is right for OUR families. NO one should be feel any less guilty or more guilty if they choose to keep using these products. ANd you guys jumping on this post makes me FEEL HORRIBLE for continueing to use these products cause I feel these studies are just meant to scare us and i'm tired of everyone-media, these studies coming out and scaring parents who just want to do what's best by their child. BUT what we don't hear is how many of these studies are disproven but we never hear about that-for instance-cell phones causing cancer was disrproved, articial sweetners causing cancer-you have to drink 10 cans of diet coke per day for like at least 1 year to even have a marker for cancer, and also what about the incredible egg studies-bad for you, then good, then bad, then good, now it's the perfect food.
Take what you want from these studies, but dont' make other moms feel horrible for not agreeing with the studies and make us feel like we are doing wrong by our kids.

Who said anyone was doing anything wrong to their kids? I just said i wrote aveeno an email asking, and when i get the answer i would tell everyone here what they had to say. Im sick of all the media too, it puts a pit in my stomach. I feel like everytime i turn around theres something new to worry about, i hate it. I would never accuse someone of being a bad mother or not doing right by there child. Its a personal choice what you decide to do.

I'm so tired of the media-when it's slow news all these studies come back out. The BPA in bottles, the chemicals in lotions/soaps, what's next to scare moms-chemicals they put in diapers to make them higher absorbency be toxic to our kids?
I just feel when it was pointed out that the juanvi posted that she's sick of getting scared and there's no conclusive evidence that just because we feel that we're not changing a thing, that's we're wrong and doing our kids wrong by not changing their soaps. That's all. This isn't the first time this has happened here, so it's not necessarily your particular post, but the posts made in the past in general-i'm totally generalizing now.
Everyone just wants to do what's best for our kids and just because some may not believe these studies it doesn't mean we are any less educated, or naive moms.

Re: phthalate free shampoo, wash and lotions, can anyone recommend one?
I just read the article from Newsday. I do respect the decision not to use certain products although at this time I will continue to use J&J.
Personally, I am always cautious of studies where the group conducting it does not allow themselves to be named. When the American Pediatric Association makes a fuss over this then they will have my undivided attention. The study also failed to actually test the products used and only tested urine. Can't help but wonder about how they could confidently assume it was the bath products and not something else.
But again...I do respect that it would cause concern for parents. Everyone should use a product they are comfortable with.
With that said...to get back to the OP...I would suggest Burt's Bee. You can get it at Target and it might be worth a shot to see if they have a website where you can sign up for coupons.

yes, burt bees are all phtalate free- for babies and grown up people too. I use BB & also an all natural goat-milk soap from Wild by Nature. DS has very sensitive skin like me, and I find the Goat-milk soap to be the most gentle.

I am so confused. I stopped using J & J b/c of the cancer causing agents and started using Aveeno b/c it was safer...now I am supposed to stop using Aveeno b/c it can cause infertility This is just so crazy!
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT IS NATURAL AND SAFE ANYMORE?!?!

I agree.
That one website given in the other thread seemed fishy to me.
It asked for donations and for every donation they recieved they would review one more product.
I trust my pediatrician, I trust the APA and the AMA.
