Planning a Surprise Party
Has anyone been or planned an awesome adult surprise party? I'm trying to think outside the box for my parents 6Oth but, I'm coming up with the same old.
What are your thoughts on something different? Bowling? Or is that a bad idea for 60 year olds?

Planning a Surprise Party
We did a surprise party for my in laws. They enjoy food so we had family over and hired someone I know that is a chef in NYC. We told them they were just coming for dinner little did they know it was the whole family (not huge 20 people) and they did a cooking thing with the chef. The whole family participated to make a full dinner then we all ate. They loved it. We did all the food with my BIL and it was a nice time. I don't think bowling is too much for 60yr olds! FIL is 60 and still bowls regularly! 300 bowl would be super nice they have those nice rooms and the private bowl which is nice. I think it's a good idea! Try and do what they like and make into a party some how! Good luck!

Re: Planning a Surprise Party
I had a big 65th surprise party for my mom a few years ago. She always loved music & dancing her whole life. When I was a kid she was a big disco fan so I decided to have a disco themed party. Her birthday is in August so we had the party in my backyard. My DH put up a huge tent with a dancefloor in case it rained. I made a lot of the food but had servers/bartenders. I encouraged people to come in disco costumes which turned out to be hilarious & bought all sorts of stuff for people to wear if they didn't come in costume. a bunch of the guys in our family performed the YMCA for her in full village people costumes. I told her we were taking a limo out to eat but we would leave her car at my house. she was totally surprised when she arrived. It might not work for everyone but it was the perfect theme for her.
the cooking party sounds awesome!

Re: Planning a Surprise Party
My siblings and I did a bowling party for my mom's 76th last year. The year before for her 75th we did the big catered affair. She actually requested the family do an activity that would be fun for all ages. We took up 3 lanes. It was a blast! It was the best thing we ever did since everyone from the 6 year-olds up were able to participate and have fun.
