Plantar Wart
I think I have a plantar wart on the bottom of my foot. It's a small hard spot on the ball of my foot with a little black dot in the center. It is a little sore, and especially sore if I put weight on it.
Anyone have any experience with this? Online it says that they go away on their own after 3 or 4 months, or I could get a Dr. Scholl's thing and use it every day for a month and it might go away. Is it worth it to do that?

Re: Plantar Wart
I have worked for a podiatrist for 18 yrs. Does it feel like you are walking on pebbles/rocks? A wart is contagious, it is a virus, and it is passed when you have an opening on your foot. My DH had 1 and then it turned into many clusters of warts on the bottom of his foot. It took about 4-6 months to get rid of it with going to the dr, and getting it scraped every few weeks. You can try the over the counter stuff and see if it works, but try not to let it go. Also, wash out the shower after you are in it. HTH

Re: Plantar Wart
Thanks for the quick and informed reply!
No, it doesn't feel like I'm walking on pebbles. It just feels sore. It's not really a lump, but when I put my fingers over it, you can tell it's harder (thicker?) than the rest of the skin around it. And there's that pinpoint of black in the middle of it. I would have thought it was a blister if not for the black dot and the fact that I've had it for over a month now.
Should I see a podiatrist? It's really not that painful, but I don't want it to turn into anything.

Re: Plantar Wart
Try soaking in epsom salt and warm water, see if it comes to a a head, if not go to a podiatrist. It can be a wart, you could have been bit by something, it can be a callus. HTH It can be a cyst maybe. I am not a dr, but hope I helped you . Feel better!

Re: Plantar Wart
My son had one of these a few years ago, I had no idea what it was, the school nurse is the one that told me. Anyway, I bought an OTC kit, applied it a few nights in a row and put duct tape over it. The third night when I peeled off the tape, the entire wart came out with it. Never came back!

Re: Plantar Wart
I tried everything over the counter and nothing worked. Finally i asked the derm about it and they numbed the area, sliced the raised part down to the foot, and then froze the area...sounds painful, but it took like 30 seconds, put a band aid on and it was fine.
i actually needed it done 2x times. by the 2nd time it was permanently gone.
just got to the dermatologist and get it removed..it will save you lots of money in over the counter products.
i had it right in the middle of the arch of my foot so i didnt feel it when i walked too much, but it was gross and just got worse.

Eeew. But thanks for the advice!
So you'd suggest that I to to the derm and not to the podiatrist? I had wondered about that. Thanks!

I had the same thing only the ball of my foot. 1 which was removed, then another one. I had a podiatrist remove it.

I hate feet and the thought of going to a podiatrist made me so when i was at the derm for something else i asked her to look at it. they sent it out for a biopsy as well just to make sure it wasnt anything serious. either one will easily do it for you.
