Playing and spilling water from sippy cup?

DS has managed to figure out the trick to getting the water out of every sippy cup and dumping it on the floor/table/highchair/whatever.

He's been doing this for two months now. Same thing with his bottles. He pushes the nipple down on a surface so he can watch it leak.

I take his sippy/bottle away when I do this, but then I end up having to hold it for him in.

How do I get him to stop yet teach him to feed himself?

DS used to do this. He thought it was funny. Me, not so much. I had to get sippy cups that didn't have the soft, nipple like, cover to them. It took him a little while to get used to using them but he did.
