Please help, Landon is sick - with pics. Updated 7/16
Landon woke up vomiting at 5 am and has had a fever on and off all day. Now he has a rash... does this look normal to you? I called his pediatrician and was told to keep him hydrated and to go in if he still has a fever in the morning. They had no comment on the rash.
Not sure how clear these pics are going to be but its a solid red rash (looks like a sunburn) on his chest and back, and more spread out on hi belly and arms. Nothing on legs, feet, or face. These pics were taken about an hour after fever was broken so I don't think its from being hot.
Update 7/16 He is totally fine today! It must have been some kind of 24 hour thing. No fever since 4pm yesterday, and the rash was gone this morning when he woke up. His appetite is back to normal and he's very happy!

I was going to say prickly heat too--I know I am a very new mom , but DS gets prickly heat when we go outside and it is hot, and I did too as a child, and it looks just like that. Did you try a cool bath? My mom used to give me a cool bath and then I think put on corn starch which helped with the rash.

yes, he's had a bath, and cool rags on his head and neck, but no corn starch. its been like this for over 2 hours now (4:00, and 4:30 when the fever broke). Could prickly heat last that long?

Not sure DD hasn't had anything like that yet and it's hard to see the rash in the pics. Thought this may help.

Re: Please help, Landon is sick - with pics
did he get his MMR recently? Erik got a rash like that from the vaccine...
It didn't last long, and didn't appear to bother him at all.

It looks like the MMR rash. Was he vaccinated recently? All his symptoms are consistent with MMR reactions.

Re: Please help, Landon is sick - with pics
it might be roseola? the rash comes after the fever breaks. does he still have the fever? dd had this at 8 months and she had a high fever, it spikes, never came back, and the rash came out. no vomiting though.

Re: Please help, Landon is sick - with pics
that definitely looks like coxsackie/roseola...was he sick for a bit before the rash came out.
The rash usually signifies the END of the virus...which is usually has a high fever beforehand.

Re: Please help, Landon is sick - with pics
DD had a fever during a stomach virus a few months ago. The fever didn't go very high but she did get a bit of a rash in a few places. The spots would appear and then be gone in a few hours, though it didn't look like your DS's. Our Ped. said DD's rash was just related to the fever but not specifically roseola.

Roseola Infantum or 5th Disease...
I agree. Unless he's on amoxicillian then I'd say it's a side effect (not an allergic reaction) to amoxicillian.
If he's not eating or drinking, try ice pops.

Re: Please help, Landon is sick - with pics
my girlfriends son had the same thing a few months ago and it ended up being scarlet fever. He was just given anti-biotics. He had the fever, vomitting, and rash too.

Re: Please help, Landon is sick - with pics
Thanks everyone. He woke up sick at 5am and rash came at about 4pm, so it wasn't much later... about 12 hours. If he still has a fever or rash tomorrow we'll be going in to see the dr.
