I'm sorry you're going through this.
We'll hope for the best! In the case of the amnio...I know someone who lost their baby after one, so I would never get one. You have to decide what you would do in the case you find out the baby has downs. If nothing...then don't have it! JMO

I am so sorry to hear that but keep in mind that % is very small. I think that if you really want peace of mind you should go for the amnio. They are actually much safer now than they were in the past. My doctor told me the chance of miscarraige is probably about 1 in 1200. I think it is somewhat harsh that your doctor made it seem like the liklihood was higher by using the term "kill the baby". If you go for the amnio, just make sure you go to a hospital that routinely performs this procedure. they can probably reassure you about the risk level.

I totally agree!!! With all the new technology, amnios are not as dangerous as they once were. That being said, only you know the best thing for your situation!

Have you seen a genetic counselor? I know speaking to one helped us decide about going for an amnio. They can give you more info about the risks of an amnio, and the likelihood that something is wrong. I would also ask if there are any risks to the baby if you gave birth without knowing if something is worng. I didn't have one, though if my ultrascreen or 20 week scan came back with problems, I may have had one.
You need to think about what you would do with the information if you have an amnio, and how important it is to you to know if there is a problem or not in advance.
I am really sorry you are going through this!
