Please no one take this the wrong way...but some advice from a BTDT
I just needed to comment on some posts regarding castor oil.
PLEASE PLEASE do not take this to try to go into labor....it will NOT work if your body is not ready, and you can do so much harm to yourself and possibly your baby.
Doing this can end up severely dehydrating you, and on the off chance the cramping in your bowels causes your uterus to start contracting, do you really want to be in sudden labor with diarrhea?? There is also a chance that because your baby takes in what you do, it may cause your baby to pass meconium early which can be dangerous (some studies say this, others deny it so who knows..)
All I am saying is i know its a desperate feeling to want to have your baby, but I remember reading so much about this method and decided its not worth it. The baby really does come when its ready and its better for you in the end!!
Sorry to sound preachy but I hate reading about women drinking that stuff...

AAAMEN !! Can you imagine being in labor and pushing..from BOTH ends.
All the babies will come when their done & ready Be patient mommies-to-be, there will be days when you'll want to shove the little bugger back in.

I just think the RISK of muconium ingestion alone should be enough of a deterrant.... And YES, there is certainly a risk- regardless of what different doctors/researchers/midwives report.

That is exactly why although I tried alot of things, castor oil is the one thing I stayed away from. The risk of the baby ingesting meconium was not worth it to me.

Exactly! There's really nothing you can honestly to do to make baby come when YOU want it too.
I know it's so frustrating and you just want to be done being pg, but only the baby and your body know when it's time!

As someone who tried it and failed, I agree with you. I wish I would have been a little more rational a few days ago!!!

like everyone said above. It can cause fetal distress and potential for birth trauma. I am a peds ICU nurse and believe me you do not want a baby with any birth trauma. Keep your babies in until the doctor say it's time!!
