Please share your 12-18 month's menu so far this week
DS is such a bad eater. All that he wants is bananas & waffles. I don't know what to do. He will pick out anything green from his food. He seems to be most hungry for breakfast- is it crazy if I give him a heavier lunch/dinner type meal for breakfast b/c then I may have a chance of him eating veggies?
Sunday: B -waffles with apple sauce & 1/2 banana (ate everything) L -pizza (ate 1/2 slice) D-pasta mixed with peas & chicken (only ate the chicken)
Monday: B -1 slice of french toast & 1/2 banana (ate everything) L - penne alla vodka mixed with peas (ate maybe 1 shell & I gave him no other food) D - mac & cheese with broccoli & peas mixed in (ate everything probably b/c he was starving from no lunch)
Tuesday: B- waffle with apple sauce & a small bowl of infant oatmeal cereal (ate everything) L- 1/4 slice pizza D - pasta mixed with peas & chicken (again only ate the chicken)

bump for afternoon crew.
I really don't know how to proceed with this kid - He only took 1 bite of his lunch & then refused to eat the rest so he pretty much skipped lunch today & went straight to his normal afternoon nap. I feel torn, if I make replacement meals, he'll know that he wins BUT I don't want to starve the kid. What to do?

Re: Please share your 12-18 month's menu so far this week
Typically, it's oatmeal, fruit n yogurt for bfast. Lunch is a variety of steamed or baked veggies (sweet tater, red tater, green beans, peas, squash, zuchini, spinach, onion, broc, cauli) with some butta n salt. Sometimes rice, sometimes mixed in an omelette n cheddar, sometimes with chicken or ground turkey. Dinner is usually a variation of the aforementioned as well. Snacks are berries or cheese or crackers or waffles - all depends on how he ate that day.
When he gets picky, i make an omelette and he eats it up. I stick some chopped already steamed veggies n cheese in there, and he doesnt even notice....yet. He is 14 mths.

I cant remember beyond yesterday (pregnancy brain ) but DD is 15 months. She had also been VERY picky lately and hasnt wanted some lunches/dinners. She is teething terribly so I think this is why. She is also most hungry at breakfast..
Tues
B- 1/2 croissant and a scrambled egg w cheese, 1/4 banana L - Slice of pizza D- Didnt want much- only ate some peas and a slice of cheese
Wed B- waffle and sausage, fruit loops in the car L- 1/4 yogurt D- Entire Gerber toddler meal of mac and cheese w veggies
She snacks alot during the day- favs are raisins, craisins, cheese, cookies, fruit, dried apple slices

This is a hard one. Do you think he's being picky or is he just not hungry? My DS is a great eater but I don't really give him snacks. On the rare ocassion my DS won't eat something, I give him yogurt so he's not hungry but with him I know he's not being picky per say. Were he to become picky, I would do what you did, no replacement meal. If you think he's being picky, then do what you did and maybe give some snacks that have protein to hold him over. If you think he's just not hungry, try limiting snacks and see if he eats better.

Re: Please share your 12-18 month's menu so far this week
Monday he was at a sitter ... I know he ate a ton...just not exactly sure what LOL
Yesterday B - French Toast (only b/c I was in the mood for it LOL) Followed by apple slices about 20 mins later L - Pork Chop with apple sauce, Peas / Carrots. (left-over dinner from the night earlier) Followed by a yogurt. D - Steak, mashed potatos and corn.
He also has a snack between each meal, such as baby carrots or more apple slices or a banana.
Today B - one egg with half orange. Then he wanted some of my cereal...Trix. HA. I only let him have 2 bites, but still... I need to stop eating sugar cereal LOL L - We were out and about, so at my Mom's I made him a turkey Gerber toddler meal thing...with the mixed veggies and pasta. D - Chicken from the crock pot, string beans, and rice.
He's a small guy, but loves to eat!! he's 14 months.

I haven't given him snacks in 2 months because of his eating but now it's getting really bad. I think it's probably both- him not really being hungry & him being picky. Also, the back of his bottom gums are huge & pretty swollen so maybe that is contributing also. But his belly always feels hard & looks nice & round like he's just eaten a huge meal even though he hasn't most of the time.
He took one bite of lunch then I put him down for a nap & I fed him dinner 30 min earlier than normal & he ate everything so maybe he only needs a big breakfast, small snack as his lunch, & a big dinner. I think I'll try this method next.
