Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
i have had three c-sections. The first they thought i had pre eclampsia so i had to have magnesium the day after which makes you totally out of it. you also cannot get out of bed. the next day i was up and walking around. i had the c section on a friday night so i was in bed on sat then on sunday i was walking around and i felt fine the only painkiller that i took was motrin.
the second i delivered in the morning and i was up and walking as soon as they took the catheter out.
the third the same thing. i think getting up sooner rather then later helps. i had great experiences.
I delivered at South Nassau and the nurses were great.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
I had a scheduled section with DS#2. It went perfectly fine. We had to schedule it because DS was having some issues with his heart so my OB felt that having a section would be less risky. Although I really wanted to go through labor as I did with my first son. But DH and I showed up at the hospital probably around 8ish. At 9:35, the nurses wheeled me into the OR and he was born at 9:54. It was super quick.
As far as the recovery went, the first week I made sure to take my meds on schedule. Every day I felt better and better. Within 2 weeks, I was driving DS#1 to preschool and bringing the baby with us.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
from my birth story
We arrive at the hospital at 5:45 and were told that we weren’t scheduled to be there until 11 (our dr bumped up the time but the hospital didn’t write that down) so they hooked me up to the monitors while they got everything in motion . They had no luck getting my IVs in and they tried in 4 places in my arm and hand and after getting all bruised they had to call in the big guns-the anesthesiologist and he did it right away. After my blood test came back it was BABY TIME! They brought me into the surgery room and gave me a spinal which wasn’t bad. Than they started to prep me and put up the c/s sheet. I started to panic-big time. The anesthesiologist was great and he told me he would make a deal as soon as we got the baby out he would give me something to calm me down. in the meantime lets talk about something he said-how about work--im like noooooooo i dont want to tak about work. I think the sheet was too close so he moved it back as much as he could. that was a little better. than dh comes in in his surgical outfit and hat and I told him I was freaking out-and he was like omg me too. um hello im the one whose got to go through this! lol Let me stop and say I was freaked out but it wasnt bad. Anyone getting a c/s please ignore that because once they got started I felt pressure but absolutely no pain. I felt comfortable once the dr started. As soon as the baby way out she let out a BIG CRY!! and the anesthesiologist started shooting medicine in my IV ( we had a deal) I didn’t fall asleep but it made me pretty chill.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
I had a scheduled section with DS because he was breech. I delivered at 39 weeks.
The good....
There was no rushing around because I suddenly, without warning went into labor.
My house was clean from top to bottom when I left for the hospital. Fridge stocked too.
I had a good night's sleep the night before.
My family didn't have to rush around to get to the hospital. I told them the day and I told them the time and there was no waiting in the waiting room for them. This was esp. great for my in-laws who live OOT... there was no middle of the night call from us telling them to make the 4 hour drive. They were able to prepare as well.
I was also able to prepare myself mentally for my birth experience, which, prior to scheduling the section, I was driving myself crazy about.
There was no anticipation of when I might go into labor. There was a day... there was a time... and that was that.
Honestly, the only bad was that I wasn't the first scheduled section of the day, so there was the potential for things to get off schedule. But they took me only a half hour later than I was scheduled for.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
Totally a great experience!
Woke up, took a shower, went to the hospital and two hours later had a baby!
No pain, no worrying if my water was going to break at work, no labor (have no idea what a contraction feels like and am perfectly fine with not knowing!).
Like someone previously posted, my house was clean, my family knew when to show up at the hospital, and everyone knew when to expect the text with the news!
I honestly would have to say it's the best way to have a baby!
Recovery was fine...took advil for 3 days and by the 6th day was walking around Target!

Agree with all of the above.
The anticipation knowing I was going in for a c/s was worse than anything.
I thought it was pretty "easy" overall! I have no fears of doing it again.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
I went to my dr appointment the day of my due date and my fluid was low so they sent me to hospital. i went over night with trying to dialate, it didnt happened so the next day took me in for a c-section...went really fast, felt fine, was nervous but it wasnt scary..it goes so fast i think then u hear and see your little baby and its amazing... then i was extremely tired, luckily it was around 6pmish so soon after it i was with my son then they took him and i slept for a little, i was ok to have him come in and nurse him thru out the night..the next day u have to stay in bed which was fine as long as you take the pain meds they give u.. but the only bad thing was the itching which some people get from the spinal..omg it was worse then anything....im surprised i didnt claw my skin off, i was so ithy it was unreal, for like 4 days to, it would even wake me in my sleep...so i took benedryl to which made me sleepy and didnt help much with the itch... then when i got home was still in some pain but u just do what u have to do and that is take care of the little munchkin..after about 2 weeks u will be back on your feet feeling pretty good.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
Had a great experience and recovery with both my c-sections...
With my DS I did have some pretty miserable gas issues so when I went in to have DD I made sure to take the gas meds from the get go and then had no issues at all
Also with DS, when I was on the table one of the meds I was given gave me the sensation of not being able to swallow sort of so when I went in to have DD I made sure to tell the anesthesiolgist that and they made sure it was not an issue...
Even though you're not supposed to, I was up and down my stairs (I have a colonial) from the second I got home...Felt great overall ( took the meds since they gave them to me and I figured, why not )

I could have written this word for word including the OOT inlaws. The only other bad thing for me was that since he was my first i felt kind of jipped out of going into labor.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
please do not worry too much...i know easier said than done but it will be ok! my first was an emergency and went very very well-from the surgery to recovery the 2nd time was planned and went even better! i wasn't as "out of it" b.c i was not already in labor as i was with the first. also, my recovery was amazing. i was out walking both kids in the double stroller less than 2 weeks later, jogging by 5 wks PP. it was al so much better than i anticipated!

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
I had a scheduled csection at 41w1d bc I was not induceable and this kid just wouldn't budge! I went to the hospital at 11 for a 1230 csection and my DS was born at 102pm. Overall I had a great experience!!! I had ZERO pain... literally. I never took any pain meds and was up and about the next day! The only negative of the entire experience was the nausea from the spinal tap. I was throwing up for the entire first day, but that wont necessarily happen to you. Good luck!!! FWIW, I would deliver all my future babies via csection by choice bc it really was not bad at all.

Re: please share your scheduled c-section experience..... the good, bad and ugly
The only issue I had was I freaked out when I couldn't wiggle my toes. I know you are not supposed to be able to- that means the spinal worked but for some reason I had the need to wiggle them. I also agree with the PP. Do not look up!! I did and watched the whole thing. My recovery was great. I actually wanted to go home that night.

I puked from the spinal - they gave me nausea meds in my IV - I was fine within seconds - the surgery went without any problems and my recovery was awesome.
Nothing but good things to say

OMG YES! lol My lovely husband pointed that out mid-surgery. He watched the whole thing and of course I HAD to look... they had to give me iv nausea meds at that moment bc. I almost lost it. Good times lol.
