Please tell me not to worry

I have had this skin colored mole thing on my chest for as far back as I can remember. I noticed a teeny spot in it, so I'm going to the dermatologist tomorrow.

Please tell me its nothing and I have nothing to worry baout

Please

Try not to worry!
You are doing the best thing by going to the doctor to get it checked!
I have had many things removed by the derm, and while it is nerve wracking, it almost always comes back normal!

Thanks ladies...

but what about the 120+ views on here?

are people reading this and thinking - sheesh - she SHOULD worry - I'm not going to tell her not to worry.

Hell - I won't even give her a hug.

Screw her and her pale skin....

Re: Please tell me not to worry

it is raised or not? Symmetrical borders or not? Changed or not?

From what you described, it doesnt sound concerning to me. I am a worrier too so I can relate.

Re: Please tell me not to worry

I had something similar on my back lately and the doctor took one look and told me not to worry about it. I'm also very pale and skin cancer runs in my family. Don't worry! Chat Icon

Its a raised skin color lump - I've had it forever, and there is no real color to it so there are no borders... is that ok?

Usually melanoma is discolored, not skin colored. Chat Icon

Re: Please tell me not to worry

Sorry to hog your thread, but I have been through this many times, so I feel like I can try to help you know that chances are very good that it is nothing. I have had probably fifteen moles/tags removed and there was only one that came back with abnormal cells. Even then, they removed it (small procedure, ten stitches,) and then it came back clear.
More times than not, it is fine. The doctor will remove and biopsy it if it looks suspicious.

I am sure its nothing. Melanoma is blackish brown from the start. and if it hasnt changed, then really nothing to worry about.

Try not to worry. I used to work in a dermatologists office. Yours doesn't sound bad from what I know, more like a cyst or skin tag. They might remove it and do a biopsy to make sure. It's smart of you to go get it checked out. Chat Icon

Re: Please tell me not to worry

don't worry about it. my melanoma was red but very noticeable to me not to others. my new motto with skin and people asking me what they should do is "if it bothers you get it taken off." i looked everyday at the one on my face and just had to have it off..good thing too!! the best thing for you to do is know your skin and get it looked at if it doesn't feel right to you. good luck!!
