I took it to mean people that bought a house they could afford. They will be able to get help. Not someone who makes $6.00 an hour buying a house for $500k. How exactly, I don't know.

call me a pessimist, but i don't think any of the average middle class people in this country (i.e. those making about over $30 K, but under $150K) are going to reap any benefits from this plan.... we shall see...

and you know what his tax cuts for the middle class amount to: from april- june 2009 we get $13 more per month and then from july on it decreases to $8 per month.
all this hooplah and that's what it amounts to.....??
and he's going to tax all businesses making 250k plus per year which will mean more lay offs starting in 2010 when the bush tax cuts expire. how does that help?

Last night I think he was speaking more to the people who bought a house they could afford, and then the market really went south and now the home is worth substantially less than the mortgage and they are having problems paying the mortgage and are on the verge of foreclosure.
With regard to closing costs, I'm pretty sure that's a state issue. My dad and my ILs live OOS and they had almost no closing costs, and in many states you don't even need a lawyer when buying a house. My dad bought a few years back in Utah and more recently in Georgia, and my ILs bought in Florida.

on a related topic... has anyone seen that commercial where they say that if you spend a million bucks a day since the day Jesus was born all they way through today, it would still not be as much $ as the bailout?
