Please tell me this isn't the worst thing in the world....I feel terrible
My DD has been sick with cold-like symptoms. She is the worst sick person ever....if she coughs, she cries....if her nose runs, she cries.....if her eye tears, she cries. Being sick just really upsets her. Anyway, I had been giving her Motrin to keep her fever down. I must have confused the amount of hours between doses with Tylenol.....I thought Motrin was every 4 hours. Two time today I gave her doses 4.5 hours apart. I just noticed the bottle says every 6-8 hours. Do you think I should be concerned that I overdid it I feel terrible that I wasn't paying better attention to the bottle.

Aww don't beat yourself up. I'm sure she will be fine-things like that happen all the time.

I'm sure she'll be fine. If it would make you feel better - call your ped's after hours line. I've called about medication questions that I'm sure they didn't think were urgent but I sure did.
I hope she's feeling better tomorrow.

I would call the ped to check. I *THINK* you're fine as long as you haven't exceeded the 24 hour amount on the bottle but I'd want my ped to give me some instructions to get me through the night since fevers go up at night.
Hope she's better soon.
eta. I'm sure she's not the worst sick person ever. I know my husband could give her a run for her money in a sick-off.

to compensate, I would just stop giving it to her for today to let her system recoup
it doesn't sound too bad though... I agree w/ the other poster, just call the peds office tomorrow

I think she'll be ok - maybe give the ped a call just in case - I think I did this to Cailen once!

I think what we're all trying to say is CALL THE PED. We're not doctors & we're all afraid to say it's ok because it's not something you want to be wrong about.

Thanks for all of your advice.
I'm going to check her out in a few hours and then again in the night. If she seems to develop a fever again in the night, I will call the service. If not, I am going to call the ped tomorrow. Thanks!!!

If you had been doing this for more than a day, I would be a little concerned, but I'm sure 2 doses like that isn't going to be terrible...you're only human!!!

I'd call the ped, like other said. I sure she is fine though-I once accidentally gave Claire double the amount of Tylenol for an entire day. I didn't find out until the next time I needed to give it to her and I double checked the dosage. She was fine, thank goodness, and I am sure yours will be too.

I'm not so sure about that Barb - my husband is pretty bad....

not a big deal at all. next dose just give her tylenol instead of motrin, and then you can go back to motrin.

Nope...Recently a friend told me that she spoke to poison control once about something different but they told her thats the reason they make those tylenol and motrin bottles soooo small b/c kids can get into them and basically they can drink the WHOLE bottle and be fine. So I hope that helps you ( and anyone else) feel better!
