Poll - Was your baby vaccinated at birth in the hospital for Hepatitis B? (pg mom debating)
I have been thinking about if I should have my newborn vaccinated in the hospital for Hepatitis B. Can you tell me if you did this or chose to do it later and why? With a poll

My first did not. I wasn't expecting the question so I was hesitant and the ped said we could wait no problem. I was glad I did bc I wanted to get to know my baby and what her norm was so I would be able to be more in tune with any response she had.
I planned to do the same with my second but she was a nicu baby and I felt so out of my element so I just did whatever the doctors there recommended bc I truly trusted them. I saw no reaction at all with her.

The first vaccines for both of my children were done by the ped in the office at their first visit. My ped did not have hospital rights where I delivered so we saw them the day after we came home from the hospital.

My ped said to just wait until the 2 week appt unless one of us was in healthcare or some other high risk profession.
So we waited

DD got it at her first appointment with the pediatrician. She was in the NICU for a few days and on antibiotics so I wanted to wait for the Hep B vaccine.

I did not with either child...I had natural births I wanted to establish breast-feeding before I started to get them vaccinated. As pp said I wanted to be in tune with them as much as possible in case of a reaction.

No, DD was in NICU and I didn't want to torture her anymore, just wanted to go home. She had the shot 3 days after we left at her first drs appointment.

We didn't - our ped specifically mentioned at our interview that they give it as part of a combo vaccine in the office.

Yes... made first peds visit easier as that was already done.
My ped is affiliated with hospital & didn't care when we did it... so we did it.

No - there is not an immediate need to have it done. I did the Hep vaccine when they were a little older as they were staying at home. Also the dr. recommended do that all with the dr so it is same brand.

No, we waited for a visit where there were no other vaccines needed. I think we did it at 9 months. There's really no rush on that one.
