POLL: Area rug on top of carpet question.
In front of my sofa the carpet is really worn - it's only 3 yrs old. It's worn from our feet there all the time.
I'd like to put an area rug to slow the destruction.
I don't really want to put a 10x12 - can I put a runner between my sofa and coffee table or will that look ridiculous?

I would put a regular area rug down. not a runner.. a runner will draw attention to the battered area. kwim?

Ditto. I would get at least a 5x7 and depending upon the size of the room a larger rug.

You think I should do a 5X8 - just under the coffee table and sofa?
How about a sisal rug with either a brown or sage border?

I would get a 5x8 rug to go under the coffee table - sort of center it between the two couches, but don't put it under the one couch or it will make the other couch look off center. Or you get a big 10x12 rug that can completely cover the area and then you can put both couches on it.
i actually wouldn't get something that is brown or beige - you have an entire room filled with those colors. Go for a pop of color, something with greens or reds, or even blues in it
(can't see the color/pattern of the curtains in the background, but is there color in there you could pick up on?)

We have sage green accents in the room... The curtains are sage, we have green pillows, green artwork, a media center that's green, so we have a lot of green accents.
