poll: eating breakfast at your desk

do you eat breakfast at your desk? i'm just curious. i always did but now i'm wondering. do you think its inappropriate?

ETA: i realized there are two questions here. If you answer yes, i mean yes, you eat bfast at your desk. i'm just curious (having nothing to do w/the poll) if you feel its inappropriate.

I eat breakfast almost every morning at my desk, but we all do, it's a very lax office.

I eat breakfast at home, but when I get to work I usually have tea and a banana while sitting at my desk. I am checking emails and viocemails at the same time. I don't think it inappropriate- at least in my case.

I eat breakfast at my desk. I'm not sure that it's appropriate in all office settings but it works for the one I'm in.

I think it really depends on how "formal" your office is. KWIM?

I do and I generally do not think it is inappropriate. Off the top of my head, I could see it being inappropriate if I was a receptionist. I'm not sure you would want to be eating at your desk while clients are coming in and out of the office.

I would be hesitant (if I didn't have my own office) to eat anything that smelled too much.

I don't think it is any different than eating lunch at your desk.

I do. I cannot eat before I leave in the morning. I am so not hungry yet.

I've done it a few times, but I usually always eat at home.

I dont think there is anything wrong with it

edited to say: I can not stand when someone in my small office eats tuna for lunch (like every freakin day) and stinks up the whole office. I think that is extremly rude.

I used to eat breakfast at my desk everymorning at the job I was at and so did everyone else that worked there.

They had a cafeteria in the building where you could get Breakfast items

I dont have time to eat at home so I always eat my breakfast at work, usually just a yogurt or a bagel.

I always eat breakfast at home. But I don't think it's inappropriate to eat at your desk, I have snacks and sometimes lunch at my desk.

My office is very casual - nearly everyone eats at least one meal at their desk at some point during the day.

yup, everyday - except on those days where I am too busy to eat and by the time I remember that I forgot, it's almost lunch time

eta: I eat lunch at my desk too. I rarely take a break for more than 10 mionutes at a time. I have a very busy job and also, my boss always eats at her desk... so I follow her example. once in a while we'll all go out for lunch to celebrate a b-day. but I would say maybe 1x a month.

I have always eaten at my desk, when I worked on Park ave at Colgate, who had a huge cafateria, I ate at my desk. Now I work on the Island and bring breakfast in to my desk. I am the Payroll Manager, salary, and what I think is wrong is people who eat on my time. Work starts at 8am and I am in at least 30 minutes early every day so I am working and eating on my time.

There are a few people who are hourly who come in early and eat on my dime and I cannot get upper management to lay down the law on start time and work time.

sometimes i'll eat breakfast at work when I dont have time at home, but I totally dont get people who sit there lingering over a bagel while reading the newspaper... eat, but start your day and start working!

I eat breakfast and lunch at my desk. My job requires that I'm at my desk for most of the day so my breaks are few. Once in a while I will go out to lunch with some friends.

I work in a very corporate environment and almost everyone does it.

I can't eat before I leave for the train..eating breakfast at 6:30am isn't my idea of fun.

I usually go get my boss' breakfast while I'm getting mine.

I have my own office and sometimes i eat in there while I'm working...but I think it also depends on where you sit and your position...like someone above said, if you are a front desk receptionist or even an exec asst sitting outside of a head honcho's office.

I share an office with several people. We all eat at our desks. I eat lunch at my desk almsot every day. I eat breakfast at my desk too. My boss doesn't care. I'm not hourly and I never leave on time or take a full hour for lunch. I usually work while I eat breakfast. No one has said anything yet.

yep - we have a super tiny, relaxed office. Plus, I have a long commute so I leave my place by 7:30am and if I ate breakfast that early I'd be sick to my stomach. i can't eat until around 830-9am so I always eat at my desk. Sometimes lunch too!

Most of the time I eat breakfast before leave for work, but I have eaten breakfast & lunch at my desk. I dont think it's inappropriate. At least at my job it's not. Most of us do it!
