Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
We were team green the first time around and it was so much fun to have one last surprise for everyone when DS was born. Plus I got lots of gender-neutral clothing at my shower, but when everyone found out that we had a boy they bought us more boy clothing, so that was great!
Our nursery is gender-neutral too so we can keep it the nursery for all of our children without having to re-decorate (DS will move into a big boy room soon and that will be all boy!).
With our second one I think we are going to find out, just because if it's a girl I don't know if I will be able to go shopping with a toddler and an infant and if we don't go shopping then after a few weeks the poor thing will have to wear all blue!

ITA!!
Don't find out! Especially if it is your first. First of all it is really fun and there is something much different about finding out after you push that LO out of your body and 2nd it really helps to prepare with a second baby because you will have almost everything you need ready.

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
I like the idea of being surprised in the delivery room... but we will def be opting to find out.
It's just easier and I'd be wayyyyy to anxious to know beforehand.
A friend was team green and shopping for her was difficult. These days there's so many sex oriented baby stuff out there so finding the green and yellow stuff drove me a little nuts!!

Both DH and I knew that we both wanted to find out. While I think being team green is great it just wasn't for us. I knew I'd want to know and wouldn't stop myself from knowing before having the baby.

Stay team green! It's so fun to guess and wonder. I'm def bonded with this baby even though I don't know the sex. Give the baby a nickname and call them that. I just can't wait to have that moment when the baby is born and they announce it's a... And than DH can go out and make the big announcement- so exciting!!!

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
I loved the excitement of not finding out. It was a wonderful moment when DS came out and the doctor told us it was a boy.
My feeling on it is there are so few really wonderful surprises in life that I wanted to keep this one a surprise for us.

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
THANKS everyone! The voting is literally tied down the middle!!! lol
I have to say, the team green arguments are reminding me why I wanted to stay team green. I LOVE that DH wants to give the news to our families in the waiting room and we do hope to have one more child so having neutral clothes and other items would be great... AND yes, I agree that I would save a LOT of money by NOT knowing because I've already been tempted to buy gender specific things and knowing the sex, I know I'd be buying things left and right!
I'm STILL curious though!!! Ugh. I think we'll make our final decision soon. The appointment is tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait to see my little again!

We are team Did it for #1 also. For this one I thought about finding out, but in the end decided I would rather be surprised again. For us we just don't need to know, it just doesn't make any difference so we will have some fun with it.

we were originally team green.. but once they told us they knew what the babies were.. we just caved.. its hard to be team green with twins. but it was so exciting for us!! as for buying things when you know what the sex is.. DH and I dont plan on buying anything until the baby is born.. besides the big things that you need anyway. i am just supersticious with that

Well I am team and have loved it. I mean there are moments when I have driven myself insane with wonder, but on the other hand it has been so much fun having everyone guess, testing all the old wives tales, and it is definitely giving me the extra push in these last few weeks.
I just can't imagine a better moment then when they announce in the delivery room if it is a boy or a girl. I say stay Green all the way!
ITA...DH and I faltered for a second when we went for our sono and almost caved but looking back, I'm glad we didn't. Can't wait to hear "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" in the delivery room

haha, this is actually a great argument because I HATTTTTE green and yellow baby things!
At the same time, I'm hoping that if we don't find out, people will lean more towards buying items we need than clothes, kwim? At least I hope.

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
I am anti-finding out.
I was team green for DD and have been team green for this baby too.
Why the need to find out? It doesn't really change much. It's nice to have that "it's a boy/girl!" moment in the delivery room.
and PS - you will get a TON of blue or pink baby clothes at your shower if you do find out. If you are team green you willl get a few gender neutral outifts, but more gifts after the baby is born.

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
Here are our reasons for finding out:
The "surprise" was divided into 2 amazing occasions. The first was finding out the sex, then we were equally surprised to actually SEE her little face (neither of my DDs looked anyting like I thought they woruld).
With #2, DH was really hoping for a boy, so finding out at 16 weeks was great because it prepared him. By the time Eliza was born, he couldn't imagine having anything other than another DD.
This time around, I mentioned possibly not finding out and DH told me, "I want to know. Because this is our last baby, I know I'll be disappointed at first if it's another girl. I do NOT want to feel anything but happiness when I lay my eyes on this baby." So, we will be finding out the sex of baby #3 as well.

Posted by LoveyQ At the same time, I'm hoping that if we don't find out, people will lean more towards buying items we need than clothes, kwim? At least I hope.
This is what I found that I didnt get a ton of clothes, just enough to get us by, and then I got a TON after he was born (more than he ever even wore) so it didnt matter. And then I got lots of other things I needed at the shower. You're better off registering for neutral big stuff anyway because then you have it for the next baby.
I was with DS and am again. I am 100% planner, Type A all the way but I knew if I could hold out, that moment would be worth the wait and it truly was. I KNEW it was a boy (even had a dream about him 2 weeks before I had him) and when they put him on me, I said "I knew it was you." Some things in life are worth the wait and the suspense builds it up even more.
I know its a surprise whenever they tell you but hearing it in the heightened emotion of the delivery room is truly a magical moment. DH always said for #2 he would want to find out and now he feels stronger than I do that he'd never want to miss out on that moment with any of our future children.
As for the connection, we called him "Spud" in utero which we loved and he kicked me enough that I felt plenty connected with him

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
Initially, I was a firmly in Team . Then, when a friend asked me why, I told her that for some reason, finding out felt like I was cheating. It felt like I was supposed to wait until birth to really find out.
Then I realized that its not "cheating" its just taking advantage of modern medicine and the sonogram's ability to tell you the gender earlier. So, I caved, and we found out we're having a !

Re: Poll: Stay Team Green or Find Out???
I did not get that clothes from my shower, not as nearly as much as people who know the gender get.
Once he was out, people bombarded us with blue clothes.
I bought a ton of whites and reds while pregnant. I love babies in white.
The only thing I find annoying is going back and forth on a girl name, when we might not be having a girl at all!
As far as the room...if its so up in the air. A boy would go into our #1's room and a girl's room would need to be painted. But the baby will be in our room from the start anyway.
Its a great husband moment to announce the sex at the time of the birth.

The only clothes I got for my shower were from my mom. Almost all of the gifts were from my registry. I've been to other showers where people know the sex and a lot of the gifts are clothes. I got plenty of clothes as gifts after DS was born.
I loved being Team Green. I didn't feel any less bonded to DS during my pregnancy b/c I didn't know what I was having. I had a pretty long labor and I think the excitement of finding out in the delivery room helped me deal with the labor. DH was actually the one who told me we had a son. It was such an amazing moment.
